47 Dodge Truck Windshield Rubber Replacement

Recommended Posts

Is the window just stuck or has it been modified to a non opening one? If stuck you need to oil it to get it to open. There are bolts that you can access through the wiper panels at the top but then there are two more at the bottom for the opener. Be careful those 2 little screws for the opener are easy to break. The gasket for the glass is just setting tape and any shop should be able to supply that. The other is a gasket. Get a 1 piece one.

It doesn't. Look like it opens. In the wiper panels there are hinges but nothing is connected to it and there is a hole in the dash for the crank but there isn't any gear to make the window open. Are there two types of windows, opening and non opening? On the truck now there is a thick weather strip that the window sits in (looks like a two piece) and it looks like behind it they sealed the weatherstrip to the body. They also sealed around the outer edge of the weather strip with silicone or something similar. It's a mess and it leaks. I got the rubbers from Roberts but not sure which one is for the front and rear glass. There is a thick rubber that kind of looks like the one on the windshield now but its too short and a thin one piece rubber that fits around the windshield but doesn't look like the one that's on now. Do you glue the windshield to the body then the thin one piece rubber to the windshield? Thanks, Greg

Sounds as if someone has modified it to a non opening window. They were all opening to begin with. I'm not sure at all what they've done to yours.
