The engine is no problem. It should be a 230 vrs. your 218, so externally there is no difference. What trans comes with it and which trans do you have now? Both 4 speeds, or both 3 speeds? If one's a 3 and one a 4 speed your driveshaft may be the wrong length. If it's a 4 speed, is it the early spur gear type or the later syncro-mesh type? And as GTK says, if the doner powerplant came from a '48-early '50 you'll likely have to swap output flanges of the trans to match your u-joints.
