440 swap!! Here I go!!!

Well... I am pulling the motors out this weekend to get ready for the 440 swap in my 1956 Plymouth wagon. A lot of work, but worth it in the long run. I really don't want to mess with the rear end though. Will the original rear end work with this engine and trans swap? The trans will be a 727. I have a 2000 ford explorer disc brake setup that a guy wants to sell me, but I just don't know if that's going to work...

My first thought on the rear end holding up to a 440 is no.   Triple the hp and torque, stand on the throttle ( what's the point of a 440 if you aren't going to) and expect it to stay together.  I wouldn't but if you're just going to cruise with it, sure.
