vanbuskirk
Has anyone dealt with a leaky exhaust manifold leak at the damper shaft? I do not care if the damper works, just want to quiet the exhaust. Bob
Plymouthy Adams
I've repaired them on other manifolds..requires the manifold to be off the car..cut the welds on the damper/butterfly, remove shaft and drill and install bushings, reassemble and reweld the butterfly..if you wish you can just remove the assembly, tap the holes..plug with a bolt and cut flush..bad part is..removal of the manifold.. Rusty O'Toole
You might be able to stick a long bolt thru and put a nut on the end without taking it off the car.
Plymouthy Adams
Rusty, given the position of the butterfly in relationship to the exhaust opening and such..how are you going to remove all the components without splitting the intake/exhaust...explain your procedure futher if you will..
