greg g
That family of small tracked vehicles was know as Muskeg tractors. Muskeg is a commonly found "surface" in arctic environs. Made up of moss, peat, and other decomposing organic material (can be up to several feet thick) it pretty much floats on a sub bed. Kind of like a partialy frozen swamp or bog. The material can hold up to 20 x's it weight in water. Making vehicles that carry their own road with them necessary to get around.
