oldcarlover
At an idle my oil pressure is at 45lbs. I use a straight 30w oil. While driving at moderate speeds the pressure will increase to 65lbs. I know that the side draft vent tube will let some vapor out but when I stop I also see a small amount of oil dripping from the end of the tube. Could this be from too much pressure? My plugs burn clean, no pressure from oil filler tube, not any signs of smoke from engine. No other leaks
Don Coatney
Sounds to me like a normal situation. Nothing broken, nothing to fix.
Lou Earle
probably the oil pressure or release spring is keeping pressure high at idle. Think oil should be around 10 to 20 lbs at idle and 40 to 50 at running speed. My 50 did same thing new oil spring and cleaning plunger fixed ti, Lou
garbagestate 44
If you're relying on the original oil pressure gauge, theres always a chance that the calibration is off after all these years.
Dodgeb4ya
Thiose are great oil pressure numbers-like for a new engine!
