Jeff.P_46
I need to repair my worn hinges but it looks like I will need to machine and sleeve them to get them back to the original pin diameter or use a larger oversize pin? What have you guys done. Jeff
Ed Griffin
Jeff, I have'nt had to do this but on my GMC Sprint I noticed it will need the same thing. Since I dont plan to do much to it I picked up a set of pins and over sized bushings/ end collers I just happened across on ebay for the future to use when i'm ready. If you can locate the same thing then you wont have to do any machine work or even pull the hinges and just the door/doors. If at all possible things like hinges I like to leave alone as far as removing them. Once you've done that you know what comes next and it's a lot easier to just replace the pins as long as it does the job.
vanbuskirk
Buy a replacement pin that is larger than the original, large enough to fill the worn area. Drill the hinge out to fit the new pin. Bob
