Would like to know what color is standard for a 41 Dodge engine and transmission (Flathead six with fluid drive). Is this paint available and possibly where to get some. Would any pictures be available of what the power train looked like new? Thanks for any feed back guys.

Hey Bob G,....welcome.

Where do you live???

As you know, if you've been reading posts for a while, these guys are

from all over the country.

The color I used is just plain old "high heat aluminum" color.

I used Por 15 brand "POR 20" hi temp engine/manifold paint.....from a can

applied with a brush. In my humble opinion, that puts more paint on the

engine than a spray can......and has held up better for me.

Others have used various brands of paint with satisfactory results.

The POR 15 stuff has gotten to be around $30 for a small can.

Here's my engine.....silver with black accessories.

There were actually various color combinations for the oil filter....like

a cream colored cannister with red lid or an orange cannister with black

lid.....plus some others. I just wanted all my things to match.

This is the product I've used....

Oh -- you might consider listing your city, or general area in the upper

right corner......also the year & make of your car. Or you can list them

in the signature area at the bottom. You do either thru the "User CP"

listing on upper left of posting area.

I just sprayed my exhaust manifold with the tempo paint I stated,it withstands up to 500 deg. How hot do you think the exhaust manifold gets? I have this paint on my head and it has been holding up great.

Earlier this week I started my engine and pointed my laser temperature indicator towards my exhaust manifold. With the engine coolant up to temperature the exhaust manifold was reading very close to 500 degrees.

Have someone point it at the manifold while you're pulling hard up a hill!
