Normspeed
Before I crawl under there and drop a wrench on my forehead, anyone know if swapping out speedo gears is as easy as it appears? My temporary 3 speed has a speedo drive gear intended for a higher rear end ratio than my 4:10. It reads about 6 or 7 mph high. I'd like to stick in the 4:10 drive gear out of my OD tranny until I rebuild it. Any quirks or cautions?

Young Ed
Norm what type of car? We had a bunch of trouble with a 51 dodge with OD but I cant remember if it was the OD stuff that got in the way or the shape of the floor or both combined. Normspeed
It's a 53 wagon. Both trannies are 53. The OD trans is out, on a stand, and I yanked that gear today. Easy job. Tomorrow I guess I'll crawl under and see about the gear in the car. If I remember correctly, the speedo cable attached at a pretty accessible spot. Cross my fingers and knock on wood. Young Ed
I think you'll be ok with the plain 3spd. May want to make it a point to install the proper gear once you are ready to reinstall the OD.
