School teacher for Los Angeles County Office of Education, Juvenile Court Schools.

I work in a lock down detention facility for adjudicated minors (males). I just got 2 new kids today - 14 years old. Very sad.

It wouldn't be so bad but the DOJ (Department of Justice) has laid down so many rules that the probation staff is afraid of the kids. Long story. It hasn't happened yet but as soon when the kids realize how much power they have there will be a riot. Then they will blame the teachers.

I know what you mean, I used to deliver government food to the jails, probation camps and juvi halls. Some of those kids were worse than guys in the mens jails!! I had this one kid that would always bust my chops and one time he got me when I was in a bad mood and was giving me crap when we were unloading 50# bags of rice, I looked at the counsler and smiled at him and he nodded back. well I had 2 bags in each hand for a total of 200# and I handed them to super kid and he went down like a sack of taters!! All the other kids were laughing and ribbin him to no end, never had any more problems out of him. But you are right it is sad to see them in there for lack of better parenting. then that goes to another problems with the schools.....

I guess I'll jump in. I manage the R&D computer LAB for a telemarketing company. No, not the ones who calls you during dinner (that's another branch of the company), we do the “Press 1” for this, “Press 2” for that. We have well over a fifteen hundred computers with anywhere from 48 to 96 phone lines plugged into each. They are in data centers in different cities around the country. When I started we process 1-900 calls for things like the Psychic Network . Now we do things like process calling card calls, and take all the votes for “Dancing with the Stars”.

I’ve been here 14 years. Before that, for 8 years I was a maintenance tech on the equipment for a company that manufactured computer tape and floppy disks. I was “downsized” when the manufacturing was moved over to China.

I have a boring job.I am a field technician. I work on Automatics doors (like in Hospitals and stores) I use to be the manager, but I realize I hate people. So now I drive in the confort of my van all over southern california and work roughly two or three hours of the day in between driving from jobsite to jobsite and looking for all tin out there. . . .I love it, but its boring.:D

Tuesday (01/27) will mark 23 years as a Border Patrol Agent. (NOT the blue guys at the Ports of Entry, the green guys that patrol the borders between the POEs.) I'm currently the Deputy Chief Patrol Agent (#2) for the Buffalo, NY Sector covering from Erie, PA to Wellesley Island, NY. Started accessing this site when I was the Patrol Agent In Charge of the Carlsbad, NM Border Patrol Station a "few" years ago. Did a stint in Detroit in the interim.
