vanbuskirk
A couple of days ago, I talked to George about my poor mileage problem. My '54 with 3.73 rear end and 230 and overdrive gets only 15+ mpg. He suggested checking the distributor, vacuum, timing, and maybe the carb. Anyway, he has sold 5 overdrives in the last month. He has rebuilt about 25 this year, including one for a doctor in Switzerland, which cost $500 US to ship. After installing and checkout, the doctor is going to drive the 1950 Plymouth 11,000 miles from China to Paris. I am envious. Bob

greg g
Bob, have you had any luck chasing the mileage gremlin. I know you had some problems with cam timing gear and chain etc. at on point. Is that corrected?
vanbuskirk
I have not been working on it, but I have a carb rebuild kit. Another thought I had was that the early 230 carburetors were not so good and later 230s had a better carb. The car runs fine, it is just too thirsty.
