mikehalek
Anybody out there know the torque stats for 218 engine oil pan bolts
TodFitch
Odd. I would have thought that would be in the 46-53 service manual. If it is there then I missed it when I transcribed torque information to my web site. The timing cover torque is 12-17 ft-lbs, I imagine that the oil pan would be similar. http://www.ply33.com/Repair/torque
oldmopar
It may be somewhere but basically its one of those you just tightened it by feel answers. You do not want to make it too tight and compress the gasket or too loose so you just make it tight enough so it won't leak
Norm's Coupe
Also, check the pan edge where the bolts go through it. Many times these bolts are over tightened and causes the pan edge to bend where the bolts go through. You should make sure it's a nice flat surface there before installing the pan. And, tighten in accordance with Oldmopar's spec's.
daddyo23
That's what I did. Turned until they felt "tight", but not too tight. After about 100 miles, I re-checked them. Just gave them a "snug tug". They're at about 14-17 ft lbs. Wayne P.
