As I may have mentioned on the other forum...I have had all the interior window trim and dashboard painted Airwing Gray, which came out pretty nice. My question is what should the steering column, shifting rod and steering wheel be painted to compliment it? Right now, they are a dark brown. I know that the convertables and woodies had solid colored dashboards and trim. Was the steering column, shifting rod and steering wheel also the same color?

I'm pretty sure that when new, the P15 Plymouth convertible had dash and window frames that matched the exterior color, but the steering wheel and column were brown. I have seen many that were re-done, and the steering wheel/column matched the interior of the car. I painted my dash, frames and wheel maroon to go with the inteirior. Depends on whether you want originality or color co-ordination in your interior. Yeah, Bob. I guess it is a matter me wanting originality, but brown with the gray just isn't sending me. I was thinking of doing them in Gunmetal Gray to stick with original colors or just paint them the same color as the dash. Black is also an opyion, but not sure if it will stand out too much. Is taking the steering column and shifting rod out a big job? What's all involved?

Yes it is a big job to take the steering colum out. Either the whole unit or just the tube. But just the tube and gearshift would be easier. On a convertable you ,I think< can remove the tubve and gearshift from inside the car. O a a closed car u usuall rip the headliner when removing the tube inside the car.
