  1. I have finally acquired a spring for the Glove Box in my 1948 Dodge B1B and pocket like installation point on the bottom of the door itself is the obvious connection point, but where does the other end of the spring attach. Would really appreciate some instruction on this.
  2. In sorting out my '52 Suburban build, I find I need new hood hinge springs- one is missing, the other tired. The only replacements I can find online are NOS and $75. I would think if you knew the length, strength, spring rate, etc., you could probably replace them with other springs, possibly from a hardware store. Anyone tackle this yet?
  3. I need to install these springs on the hinges of my hood (1949 Chrysler Windsor). Could someone show me a picture of what it looks like once installed? I also welcome any advice on how to install the spring. I believe I know where the spring goes and I indicate it on the picture.
  4. Question please for you P15 members out there. My project car didn't have the correct clutch return fork spring setup when we got it. It had been southern engineered to work. It was missing the little pointed (arrow head looking on both ends) bracket that attaches to the bell housing, ( that the return spring anchors to ), and seems like they had a spring connected over to one of the pins on the torque shaft (If I remember correctly). Since then, a forum member sent me a tracing of the anchor brkt, which has been made and attached to the car. So know I was trying to identify and locate a Clutch return Spring. The book calls for a part # 626220, and the exploded diagram I have in my parts book shows the pic you see attached below. (A spring that looks to have a long straight hook end that reaches out on one side where it connects to the anchor brkt)... I've also found a picture of what is supposed to be an original mopar 626220 spring, which is also attached to the post. as you can see this spring doesn't have the long reaching straight section on one side, just looks more like a conventional spring, (looks much like the spring on the overcenter spring assy used on these cars). When I physically eyeball the distance from the clutch return fork, to the anchor point on the anchor brkt, it only looks to be about 6 inches or so, so I'm thinking I must be reading something into the parts book drawing that is not actually true. If any of you P15 owners could help identify, confirm what an actual 626220 Clutch return fork spring looks like, it would help. Thanks again Steve
  5. Hello, the DeSoto is finally getting to the part where we take care of the interior, so, new questions... The car has long ago lost the original door upholstery and the replacement was not high quaity. It only had one of the springs that hold the escutcheon against the window handle. What we don't know is if the door handles also should have those springs. The door sheetmetal has a place for the spring in the window handle, but it doesn't look that way for the door handle. Should it have spring in the door handle escutcheons? Should they be installed "inside the hole"? (as shown in one of the photos) I'm asking because I am about to buy the springs, and don't know if I need 4 or 8. Aside from all that, it got the whitewalls installed!
  6. After looking for a while, I've found a horn ring/button that's mostly flat and has a good shine. when preparing to install, I discovered that I'll need one or two additional parts that I haven't seen offered. I'm missing the lower plate (the one that mounts to the wheel and has the fingers to hold the ring in place). according to the parts manual on the DPETCA site, it's part number 657953. 8-33-65 (lower one) on the illustration. According to the list, it doesn't appear that a 52 1/2 ton would use the lower spring, but I can't figure out why not. If needed, the spring would be part number B1390694 or 657954. 8-33-30 on the illustration. does anyone know a source for these parts and/or know if the spring is needed for a 52 1/2 ton B3? Thanks so much for your help Bob
