  1. Hey guys, I started pulling apart my parts front end and am just wondering if there is a place to buy specific bushings or if im going to have to mix and match them. Im just finishing up removing all the parts to sandblast, powder coat and reinstall. Seeing as how i have it apart im going to add a scarebird disc brake kit to them and new tie rod ends. Also wondering if i can get new coil springs or if something else will work. Thanks.
  2. Picked up this little guy on Friday from a friend. He had it about three years but didn't do anything with it. It came from Oregon and still has the 1956 Oregon plates on it since he never put it on the road here in California. When I do I'll have to swap out the plates. Its a flathead 6 car, 3 speed on the column with overdrive. I was able to get it to turn over pretty well today and need to sort out the wiring to the dist. since my friend did some work on it and didn't know what he was doing so... I'm confident it will run and will be working through each system to see what works and what doesn't. For those experts out there, I'm trying to figure out which paint color this is. Looking at a paint chart from '53 this doesn't look like any of them. Its very blue and not so green, not mint, but not a gray either which one of them were. Any of you guys know which color this is for sure? I want to order some paint so I can paint the wheels before putting new tires on it. Assuming it runs well enough to put back on the road. You can see where its been sanded back through that yucky brushed on garbage to the original color. The plan is to clean and buff the original paint and keep the patina in tact. The car is way to straight and clean to mess with. Chrome and stainless are all there and once fully assembled will look pretty great. I'll keep posting pics of the progress. Thanks, Lance
  3. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum as I have never owned a Plymouth, but I recently find myself in a position in which I soon may. I am a mechanic / collision tech by trade, so I know what I am getting in to. A little background regarding the issue: My father-in-law wants to get rid of his 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4-Door. He wants my wife to purchase the vehicle as she has a sentimental attachment to it. She wants it, but we have no idea what it is worth and he wants her to to come up with a fair market price. There is limited information online regarding the sale prices of these vehicles, so I am asking all the experts to put a valuation on the vehicle. The vehicle: Complete and original - except paint which is not good. Body is in good shape - Minimal damage and/or rust. It has been parked in an old garage for the last 10-15 years. It ran when parked, but hasn't since. Not to say that it wouldn't with fresh fluids and some work. The interior is pretty well destroyed. One could assume that it would cost $1000 to get it running and driving safely. i.e, new brakes, wheel cylinders, brake lines, fluids, fuel pump, carb rebuild, plugs, etc. I appreciate any help that readers could provide. Thanks
  4. Im not with the vehicle right now and so cant tell, my question is how many tie rod ends are there and how many ball joints are there on this vehicle, I have the Plymouth Service Manual but it doesn't mention it and I would like to order a steering kit for my project. Also if you could direct me to a good supplier I would preciate it. Thanks guys, Stan
