  1. I was so excited to be getting my front end started- I removed all the A-arms, tie rods, springs etc, and took the kingpin assemblies down to my cousin's shop for rebuilding. One looked fine- the other he said was junk because the top arm hole was egg shaped. He wondered if someone could weld and drill it out.I called around to local machine shops with no luck. I began looking for used kingpins online (you'd think with all the Mustang ll front ends out there, there would be a bunch available), but so far, nothing has come up. I've got my buddy at Turner's Auto Wrecking looking too. Anyone know where I could get a good, rebuildable kingpin in this day and age?
  2. Eventhough, I already made this statement in my thread "Starting to Dive into the Deep End, Front Suspension." I put off working on the front suspension until I finished the headliner and leaf springs. Because I had never worked on the front suspenion. I disassembled the steering knuckle, cleaned the parts, and brought them to a shop that specializes in alignment and frame straightening. The new kingpin from Berbaum was too large. 0.800" diameter when it should have been 0.795" diameter. Without hesitation, the person on the phone said that they would send out another set. Thanks Bernbaum.
  3. Looks like the machine shop over honed the bushings on one of my steering knuckles. The pin will slide through like (insert your favorit metaphor). Thought it odd but what do I know, this being my first ever kingpin try. Sure enough, notable play when installed. Removed it, now what? The other new pin, and the old ones won't slide through. Should I use one of the old pins? Do the pins wear or just the bushings? Should I get another set of bushings and use a different shop to do it right? Also, the bearings that came with the kit are noticably shorter (@ 2 tenths of inch) than the stockers. The supplied shims aren't thick enough to make up the difference. Can I use steel washers to make up the gap? Need some experienced opinions here. Thanks
  4. Hi, I recently picked up a Dodge pilothouse 1 1/2 ton or 2 ton (Not sure which one) I am located in Minnesota near Minneapolis and need help finding a front axle for my truck. I learned that I am not very good at removing kingpins Also would like some help positively idB-entifying the year, my title says 1948 but i have my doubts. Serial Number 82580207 Model B-3HHA152 GVW 16000 pounds Thanks in advance for your help Scott
