  1. I just noticed a variation between different DeLuxe model (P15) door panels that I hadn't seen before. (Both of my cars are Special DeLuxe, so it's just a curiosity for me.) I saw an ad on FaceBook today where the door panel does not have the stainless "star". (at: https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/353875349143913/?media_id=0&ref=share_attachment) Looking through pictures I've gathered in the past, I found another one w/o it. The second picture here is what I'm used to seeing on the DeLuxe model door panel, and I also have 1 or two of these 3-sided 'stars' from a car my brother had. In the photo from the FB ad (1st pic), it certainly does not look like it was just lost. What's the story on this difference?
  2. A fellow has a beautiful 1938 DeSoto S5 business coupe, but is lacking some interior & trim parts. For the most, he'd need to find the glove box door and the lock - see attached ref.pic. Anyone who could help him out, please? Thanks, Uncle-Pekka

  5. Hello all i do not seem to have any interior lights. No dash lights (switched the toggle back and fro) no back seat headliner light. Tried to remove the bezel but couldn't get it off. Don't want to break it. Opened and closed the door. Flicked the little switch in the back seat on drivers side Tried with head lights on and off. They work. Break and signal lights work. Is is there a special procedure for removing the dash bulbs behind the console? Arg...
  6. Hello everyone, I'm again asking for help about the 46 DeSoto SP15! For some time now we've been trying to get an appropiate fabric to redo the seats and door panles (the interior was redone in the 70s, so there are original fabrics in the car), but we can't get anything close here (Uruguay). The only available things are for modern cars (80+), vinyls, leather, or fabrics for furniture. Because of this, the more probable thing until now is to do it with leather (although it is a 4 door, and originally it was cloth. I think convertibles were leather). Is it possible to get any fabric close to the original in the US? (it doesn't have to be strictly original, just something close in design and color) any that can be recommended? The only I heard of (here in p15-d24) is SMS Auto Fabrics. I sent them a question and I am waiting for the response. Thanks for your help! Tomorrow I will upload a photo of the current seats and the options we have here now, and I attach now a photo of the exterior, just because I like it! Finally, and not related to the question, I finally checked and the block is 23 inches long. If I remember what I read some time ago, that and the vin number (11 538 034) confirm it was built in Detroit. Regards, Federico
  7. Well the time is now, this 47 Plymouth business coupe SD has stalled for a year, but only for good reason. the original plan was a mild build with a 318 Magnum. But i was able to get my hands on an entire 08 Charger R/T, that's getting turned into a drag runner. Yup that means the 5.7 Hemi, trans, interior, steering column, gauges, seats, and entire electrical system is being installed in the the Plymouth. AND ONLY ABOUT A MONTH TO FINISH!!!   9. Hello!, I would like to ask you for a bit of help. My car, an export DeSoto SP15 equal to a Plymouth P15, finally is on a body shop to be repaired and painted. Hopefully upholstery will be done too. The car doesn't have its original interior, and we're having some doubts about the colors to use (the exterior of the car is black) for the seats, and mainly the roof liner, dash and upper part of the doors (around the windows). So, if anyone here who owns a P15 with an original interior (or redone with the original colors, or something close to that to get some ideas) and can post a few photos of the dash, roof, doors and seats, that would be of great help!   10. Hi all, I have in-hand a new headliner I bought for a 2-door '47 Plymouth. I have the bows. I do not understand how the headliner attaches to the area near the windlace. I have attached pictures. Please help.
  11. I have been searching for windlace pictures. I am particularly looking for pictures of the windlace being installed above the doors. There are sharp tabs above the doors, does the windlace only go under the tabs, or do you stick the tab through the and then bend it down?
  12. My '49 has a single interior light, at the rear above the rear seat/rear window. The metal trim ring doesn't appear to have any visible screws holding it in place, and neither did the glass. I just wanted to check the light bulb to see if it's burnt out or not. It appears to have a manual switch on the inside of the B-pillar. How do you get in there to check the bulb?
  13. After pondering on it for a while, I figured I'd take a stab at redoing the seats in my 48. I went to Wally World an found some material that looked similar and would go with my new carpet and bought two kinds, a softer velvety type material with a strong canvas type backing and and a striped pattern that was canvas too. I also bought a couple yards of a soft fleece type material to use for backing on the seat backs and sides. I completely disassembled the seat and took all the springs out of the bottom. I put them back in over a piece of 3/8 plywood and tied them all together with some left over rebar tying wire to stiffen up the bottom seat. I then wired three rods across the top to stiffen it up more. I cut apart all the original material to use as templates and cut out the new material from them. I sewed them up using a cheap $70 machine I got from amazon.com. It did very well. I put it altogether tonight and I think it turned out OK for about $50 in materials and two weeks of my time working in the evenings and on the weekends. Before, thoroughly worn out and saggy as can be... After, sits and looks much better... Sorry about the picture quality. All I had was my crappy phone and it doesn't take the best picture in my dark workroom.
  14. I'm planning on getting my '46 four door's interior done this spring. Any body dealt with, seen the work of, or heard about either Rick's Upholstery or Auto Trim Plus? I am trying to find some one that can do the work, and they seem to be the closest to Trenton. Quite a few folks that cover chairs part-time in my neck of the woods, but I don't want my headliner coming loose in a few years because they didn't really know what they were doing. I'm willing to pay a few extra dollars to have it done right and it lasting, rather than having to end up spending more to get it all redone in just a few years. Recommendations appreciated. Thanks!
