  1. Does somebody have a crank handle for a early thirties mopar flathead 4 if you do can i have a picture and measurements so i can make one for my grandpas 32' plymouth
  2. I'm wanting to upgrade the shocks in the front end without swapping to a kit. Are there newer control arms that will bolt in?
  3. hello all, I have a 1933 Dodge DP 6 with a 1953 Dodge 230ci engine, the stock transmission in the vehicle is a 3 speed with no-syncro's and not very good shifting sounds. it either must be rebuilt or will be replaced with a new updated transmission. I am not familiar with what to do in this scenario. is there anyone who can help me find the correct transmission adapter plate and transmission to go with? I have been told to go with a t5 transmission and an adapter plate, but am not sure where I can find these items. I would like to keep the flat head 6 but due to the irritating time trying to find the correct parts that will bolt onto the engine, I am considering full tear down of drive train and install a new mopar v8 setup. but would rather stick with flathead just cant find the correct parts to go with. all help is appreciated. (sorry if this has been asked, I could not find anything relating to this topic)
  4. I’ve got a 1950 desoto that I just got home and it does run, but as soon as you connect the negative battery cable to the battery (cable running to solenoid) the starter is spinning, I can crank the motor over this way if I push the lever for the bendix in and out to engage the teeth to the flywheel this is how I got it started, but the only way to prevent the starter from spinning is to pull the cable off of the battery, I have only previously worked on dodges and Plymouth’s which do not have this type of set up. I know these solenoids are pretty much impossible to get, is there any way they can be repaired? I’ve seen a few rebuild kits for them on eBay, but I don’t really even understand how they work, any help would be appreciated thanks.
  5. Ok, this may get moved or copied to the other forums, but I know people get a little lost on the search function. MAYBE this will help clear things up. So, say I want to search "tail light". FIRST I have to decide if I want to search the MAIN forum or within a SUB-forum. If you are in the sub-forum you want to search, select "This Forum" by clicking IN the SEARCH oval for the drop down, other search options are displayed when click in the search box This is a MAIN forum search: but I KNOW I want something in the truck forum so I will go to THAT forum and search there: enter my search term "tail light" and hit the looking glass to search: This search returns this: You can be even more detailed in your search if you go to the "+ More Search Options" and enter information there: I this case I remembered a post by "ggdad1951" that had the info in I needed so I select "Search by author" and enter that search term: that results in a more defined search like this: Of course you can do all sorts of advanced searches with the check boxes to help you find things and you can also do a Boolean search to help refine early on in the process. Boolean searches include the "+" or "-" to either include or exclude things you are looking for. In the example below in the red box I put the "+" in front of tail light and truck. This will return ONLY search that have BOTH terms, see the yellow boxes. It will also pop up the GREEN box to further help you. More about Boolean search can be found via Google or your favorite search engine. Hopefully this helps! IF you have a suggestion to make this tutorial better, PM me. Thanks!
  6. looking for accessories pamphlet Plymouth years 1949-1952 it's printed on both sides and folds up. Saw it but can't remember where. Dodge had one also. It's not the 30 page catalog. Any help appreciated, thanks.
  7. I have a 48 Plymouth special deluxe and havent been able to get this motor to start. It cranks and I put gas in the carb trying to get it to start. Though when I was working on it my stud that the positive cable bolts to got really hot. Wire isnt hot but just the bolt. I get the motor to crank and sounds like it wants to start because it does pop but cant get it to run.

  10. · Hi Guys Im new to the Forum and to restoring classic cars I recently acquired a Dodge Special Deluxe 2 door Coupe right hand drive as im based in South Africa. Trying to get papers for the vehicle and was able to find the engine number of D PDI48780 C Don’t know what motor this is besides the obvious that it’s a flathead 6. however I can’t find chassis or body numbers as it looks as if both plates in engine bay where removed. Is there any other location on the cars body or chassis where I can find these Numbers. .
  11. Ok so I have a few questions. I've never owned, dealt, etc. anything mopar. My wife and I have acquired her great grandparents 46-48 Chrysler Windsor Club coupe, 5 window, 2 door. I'm not sure how to tell the year, just been judging from google images. The car has the spitfire flathead six with fluid drive. The car has been sitting for 50+ years. Floor boards are gone along with rust in other places. We've pretty much decided that it's more project than we want but I don't know if it's a car that there's a market for, or if there's any money in parting it out, or just haul it to the scrap yard. Thanks for any advice in advance. Clayton.
  12. Can anyone recommend an exterior visor for a 1940 plymouth P10 Sedan?? Thank you tydavis73@gmail.com (951) 543-2376
  13. Hello All, I am in need of some advice. I'm currently attempting to replace the clutch in my 1946 Plymouth Deluxe Club Coupe. I have disconnected the drive shaft and transmission, but can't figure out the best way to access the clutch and flywheel. My shop manual doesn't get into very much detail here at all, and I'm stumped. The bell housing seems to bolt on top of a frame crossmember. So, what is the best next step in removing this? Is there an easiest way to remove the clutch linkages from the bell housing? (That is, should I just disconnect them from the clutch petal, or from the bell housing?) Does the clutch plate put pressure on the bell housing (that is, will it spring off when I take out the bolts)? Should I remove the flywheel cover? Is the engine supported directly by this bell housing (since it's bolted to the frame)? If so, how should I support the engine while making this repair? Many Thanks in Advance, and Best, J.P.G.
  14. So I have my new drum.hub and brakes. I went to put the front drum on and it will not fit (w/o tappping w/ a hammer). I have a 51 1/2 ton that somebody put a 3/4 tont front axle from a 52-54. It appears that the only way to adjust the shoes is w/ 2 cams at the base. The top is the "sticking" point. Anybody have any ideas?
  15. So i have my old dodge truck, when i got it the windows in the doors were busted and the weather stripping and whatever was supposed to be in the door to seal the windows and guide them was stripped, i found a website to get parts but i dont know if they are the rite parts and if i can find them any cheaper somewhere else.. this is my first restoration and lets just say i know a ton about this truck but i dont know a lot about the little things on it. its the pilothouse 3 window cab and the doors have the vent window in them so could someone give me a hint on what parts id need for the windows to seal and roll up and down like new? i dont have any parts to reference so im basically starting from scratch. any help would be much appreciated and ill have to post some pics of it now and when i first got it. i started this project as a 6th grader and i am now a senior and entered it in its first car show as of last night! super excited!

  17. Hello All, I'm in dire need of some help, I've lost the only key I had for the original trunk lock on my 1946 P15 coupe, and it's locked. I need it open so I can get to the tool box and spare tire before a tour planned for this weekend. I've already had a locksmith look at it to try and impression the lock, and he says its too worn to make a key from it. I'm not sure what to do, does anyone have a similar experience and solution? Is there a way to open this thing from inside? That is, if I removed the back seat and got at it from inside the car, could I open it? I' willing to try anything short of drilling out the lock. Thanks very much in advance, and best wishes.
  18. Im going saturday to look at a 1948 4 door dodge car. Wanting to know what to look for as in problem spots etc. Its a mans project that he running out of time for. Has all parts in boxes type of thing. Says it runs with some gas and wiring. Talk to him for almost an hour today. Been sitting in shed in the dry, front fenders and hood is currently off and hanging on wall. Body had been sanded down and primered. What are the hard to find parts that I should look for? In picture he sent it was missing the trim at rockers. And I know its hard to put price on something sight unseen. So not going to ask that. But more than welcome to throw some figures out. Also being 48 would that be 6v? Or 12v? Reason I ask he said something about pos. Grnd. Only heard of that on 6v systems. And any advice will gladly be appreciated. On side note me 52 truck is coming together nicely. The car be next project mainly for wife.
