In the process of refreshing a collection of 1950 Dodge dog dish hubcaps. Does anybody know what color of red was originally used? I used a color meter and came up with hex code #A83928 and or RGB 168 57 40. A quick trip to the hobby shop netted me a close equivalent - Model Master 2732 Chrysler Engine Red. I've been unable to find it in a spray can. Perhaps if I had a color code of some kind I could get a spray can mixed up?

I recently saw a 53 Pilothouse 1/2 ton that is painted all-black except for the correct yellow wheels. I have not seen all black before, was that an offering? -
I'm trying to stay with all original engine colors so I'm wondering about the various engine and transmission parts colors. Here's what I think the colors should be... (but some are pure guesses on my part)... Black: 1. Oil Filter Canister / 2. Crankcase Ventilation Tube / 3. Distributor / 4. Front Motor Support Bracket / 5. Fan / 6. Oil Pan / 7. Emergency Brake Drum Argent (Silver): 1. Block / 2. Head / 3. Oil Pump / 4. Water Pump / 5. Bell Housing / 6. Transmission / 7. Dip Stick Tube Did I miss anything?

I'm wondering if somebody out there has already done the legwork to determine an accurate color cross reference for the color Tamiami Green on the 1955 Plymouth color chart. I've checked with DuPont and PPG and they did not provide a modern equivalent, even after checking with their respective color libraries. I'm aware of TCP Global and their site autocolorlibrary.com Not certain that they have any better reference than my local PPG which usually does a pretty good job. I'm surprised that this color stumped my local jobbers. Thanks in advance, Tim

I am dissassembing my cowl and getting it ready for painting. I'm now working out the dents and learning how to apply body filler where needed (sparingly!) I chose a 1941 Plymouth color - West Point Gold. I think this was the hardest decision of the whole restoration- the stock color was Hampton Beige and with a woodie it's all about the wood and I didn't feel that the beige really enhanced the wood. When I took the hinges off, I found a very thin anti-squeak material wherever there was metal-on-metal. It seems to be a burlap-like cloth - almost an oil-cloth, but very thin. I searched the forum and haven't found mention of it-just the fender and body panel anti squeak threads. A modern replacement would be fine. What have you guys used?
