  1. Thanks for the tips! A quick look into carnut looks interesting , I'll dig deeper. To be continued------
  2. The serial # C53-17962. I'm enjoying all the input! Thanks
  3. Thanks for the responses. This engine is not the original, the serial # is stamped on the top of the block, with that then where do I go? I've tried to look it up but got lost!
  4. The 47 plymouth 4 dr special deluxe has a 6cyl spitfire engine. I'm looking for specs for general tune up, timing, valve adjustment, etc. I've tried unsuccessfully to find info searching on line, HELP! I'm not sure what year the engine is, early 50's? I welcome any guidance.

I'm working on the full brake system replacement on my 47 ply 4dr. Keeping it original. The "push pins" from wheel cyl to shoes that I removed are 1 11/16 long. The replacement pins I received are 11/2 & 1 3/4 long. So I wonder where the pins in the car right / wrong , is there a mix of short and long?
  8. Just feelling my way through this site! Do I understand that Desoto 39 is the guy I need to contact about renting the Ammco brake tool. Please let me know how we proceed from here, terms, contact info, etc. virg R
  9. Hi Mike36 , I am interested in renting the brake tool from you. What are your terms and how do we go about making this happen? virg R
  10. I can see having the Ammco brake shoe adjusting tool would be key. I would welcome the opportunity to borrow or rent the tool.
  11. First time, have all brake parts. I am working my way through the install, but I see the challenge ahead is getting the shoes adjusted to the drums without the proper tool!
