  3. Hi Jeff, I saw your correspondence on installing a automatic powerflite on a dodge truck. I just got a 56 with a flathead 6 and the reverse just went out on the manual 3 speed. I thought this might be a good time to convert it to an automatic. How would I identify which powerflight I need and are there aftermarket rebuilts available? It sounds like it would be much easier than a GM Turbo Hydromaster 350. I won't need an adapter for it? Will I need anything new? I was told I would need a new starter on the 350 (not sure why) and to make sure I had a vacuum intake port. The cross member would not have to be modified? Relocate the master cylinder? Any recommendations on companies to get the trans and parts from. I'm in but would have brought anywhere in So Cal or the Central Coast. I was referred to shop in Grover City..Troxell's.

  5. I enjoyed reading your work you did on your truck. Very impressed! You have probably forgotten more about fixing autos than most will ever learn,,,including me.
  6. My daughter has nicknamed her "oL Rusty". Thanks for all the great advice from the forum members. Looking forward to meeting some of you at the shows.
  7. Thanks Jeff. That's exactly where I am at. First phase is the rope seal leak, hand brake repair, carb work, new ignition and seat belts. 2nd phase is a new gas tank and zinc coat. 3rd phase will be disc brakes and 3.73 rear end..
  8. This is good stuff. Thank you. Going mild for now. Replacing the rope seal to stop the leak. Maybe put in a modern starter as well.
  9. Thank you for this. I have been looking all over for this information.
  10. Good point . No matter what to swap the engines is going to open the Pandora's box of things that have to be swapped. Maybe I can get by with a better drive train for a while. Thanks
  11. I just found an article saying they continued the 6 in the C series . Thank you for the info.
