  6. I am desperately looking for 2 bearing cap washers for my 39 Dodge flatty 6 these are the ones that go on the bolts that hold the bearing cap to the rod they are small and sit down in the bearing cap. If anyone has 2 of these please let me know and if you are close enough I will drive to get them or put them in an envelope and send them to me I will be happy to pay you my engine is done except for these 2 washers. Dpollo had sent me 2 of them but they are lost in the mail somewhere between Canada and here I gave him the wrong zip code [senior moment]. Thanks Gary
  7. I need to find a couple of lock washers that go on the bolts that hold the rod bearing cap to the rod they are thinner and smaller than a regular lock washer and have a 3/8 hole if someone has a couple laying around or if you know where I can get them please let me know I have been looking all over. Thanks Gary
  8. Great story and I bet you didn't take pic's either lol. A lesson learned the hard way.
  9. Thanks Andy I have the driveshaft on the workbench and in the vice but it is a no go I think I will take a ride to Rich Hartung's house next week sometime it seems he has everything I need beside I would like to see his car. Rich if that is alright with you let me know what day you are available. Gary
  10. Removed dust cover, spring, balls, rollers and thrust washers but I cannot push the trunion pin through the end of the shaft I have tried everything I can think of including a block of wood and a hammer but no go any ideas out there? Thanks in advance Gary
  11. Thanks everyone for the advice I will keep looking for someone to rebuild one or find one for sale at a reasonable price or run it without one like dpollo suggested .
  12. Rebuilding the engine on my 3 Dodge business coupe and noticed a dent in the pulley section of the harmonic balancer is there any one out there that rebuilds them or does anyone have a spare hanging around please help if you can. Thanks Gary
  13. Thanks so much Andy I should be able to mount them now unfortunetly the bracket on the lower cowl is gone too but I can figure it out.
  14. I have made new fender brackets for my 39 dodge but because of all the metal I had to cut out of the fenders I don't know where to mount the brackets and for the life of me canot find a picture of the brackets on the car it would probably be the same on a Plymouth but I am not sure. Please Help I am desperate. Thanks
  15. Perfect Rich just what I need as always thanks for the help. I plan to visit you when I get the motor back from the machine shop and take it to Ed's house will call first. Gary
  16. Rich I looked on e bay and the only ones I saw were the large braces on my fenders it looks like there were smaller braces also there are what looks like pieces of smaller braces welded on the fender but I am not sure my books don't show anything to help. Gary
  17. My fender brackets were pretty much rusted away when I took the fenders off, the main brackets are OK that is the large ones but not the smaller ones. Can I please get some pics and measurements so I can make some new ones. Thanks
  18. Can someone help me with a couple of pic's of a 39 frame with body off I need the location of the rubber cushions that go on top of the frame in various locations my pic's don't show them all. Also my fuel line that runs from tank to front of car is a copper and is flared on both ends is it supposed to be copper or something else? Thanks Gary
  19. I am down to the frame on my 39 Dodge business coupe and found the frame in excellent shape I have been wire wheeling, degreasing and everything else I can to get the frame to bare metal almost there tool all brackets, mounts and everything else that was bolted on and am cleaning priming and painting them to go back on after frame is primed and painted have rear and rear springs primed and painted also front suspension and all parts ready to go back on. I want the job to be as perfect as I can and if anyone has any tips I would be glad to hear them. The brake lines are new and I put new shoes on the rear also cleaned and honed the wheel cylinders and they are working smoothly. I am wondering if the fuel line I currently have which is copper should go back on or be replaced? Will keep you posted as I go.

    Rear springs

Thanks guys they are called spring clips and I got them from a spring company for 1.99 each and good tip about the never seize between the leaf springs.
  21. Last thing to come off on my 39 dodge frame off is the rear leaf springs and one spring has a metal cover on it and the other does not the cover is in bad shape so I took the cover off and the spring looks great but does not have the small brackets that stop the spring from shifting side to side like the other spring has. My question is what are they called and are they available? Thanks
  22. OK if you guy's are done beating me up I told Ed the machine shop guy said he always matches the bearings to the crank I just assumed he would need the bearings to do it my mistake. This machine shop has been in business for 65 years and does the engine work for NEMF a large trucking company here in Lehighton also does work for Mack truck and also makes parts for artillery pieces that goes to the Army so I think they are a reputable machine shop.
  23. What is the metal on my 39 Dodge tailites they are somewhat pitted what is the best way to clean them and also my bumpers and trim?
  24. I meant honed not polished sorry. Just trying to get a rough idea.
  25. Trying to get a rough idea on the cost of a valve job and having the crank and sleeves polished in my 39 Dodge and if anyone in the eastern PA area knows a good shop that they would recommend?
