  1. Living in Brisbane, do you think I should install one in my mopars Andy? lol!
  2. I love the 4.11 or 4.3 diff in my 37 mc Dodge tourer, I drive it like an automatic transmission, very little gear changing around town. Even pull away from standing still in 2nd gear. I can almost come to a stop and it will still pull away It's perfect for my art deco tour, never drive it on the highway.
  3. A kit I purchased from Pedders, but the side plates were only 85mm and did not work, so I made the side plates.
  4. Doh! Missed your post, thanks for posting. Here is my custom unit. The pins/bolts are from an off the shelf unit which had to be turned down to match the ID of the bushes and the plates I made. The inside plate has a the back section cut out to clear the cross member, not seen in this pic.
  5. Hey all, I'm having some rear spring shackle issues on the Airstream (1936), just wondering if anyone knows if this nos kit works on our silent bushings ie the screw in type. Person selling claims it suits all mopar models from '35 to'40. NOS MOPAR 1935-40 REAR SPRING SHACKLE KITS ALL MODELS | eBay

    Kew Engine,

Auto Surplus in Melbourne maybe another option to try.
  7. I have the same. If you want it to be as easiest as possible conversion, you cant go pass this. And very affordable.
  8. There is a very good chance the insulation is broken mainly outside of the tube and a little just inside, there is no reason why you could not slip over some shrink wrap over the wire and keep using it.
  9. It will probably get to a price where people will refuse to pay and convert to a manual operated choke. Only the purists will pay the high asking price.
  10. You don't necessarily need to know the exact initial advance for the timing, adjust(advance) until you have the best vacuum on your gauge, back it off if you can hear knocking. If you do want to know the advance in degrees, get yourself a dial-back timing light.
  11. Is the smoke, an electrical smell or an oil burning smell? If its an electrical smell, have the generator rebuilt, if oil, there probably is some oil dropped into the generator that is burning off.
  12. Be careful Keith, once you go electric there's no turning back...?
  13. Thumbs up for the ice cubes in the wine, same here.
  14. Andy, there is a good chance there is a rusty short somewhere. I had a similar event in my '28 Chrysler a couple of years ago, when I turned on the head lights it would show a discharge of about 5-10 amps, turn the lights off the ammeter would go back to zero. As you know, its a process of elimination. ps; rusty shorts tend not to burn a fuse.
  15. If you are positive ground then the red wire of the pump should be grounded and the other to your live wire from the ignition switch.

    No spark

I can't understand how that copper strap on that condensor could not be grounding, as mentioned, use some heat shrink on it or just go Pertronix...:)
  17. There are packaged Li car batteries available, well here in australia anyway, but all 12volts not 6v. 2 extra won't cut it either, you probably will need 30-50Ah of capacity, so the cost won't be worth the experiment.
  18. Also, you don't have enough cells, that's only 14Ah, you need more capacity for it to not stress the cells.
  19. You will need a charge regulator, and a BMS for the individual cells. Best to stick with lead acid.

    No spark

If you are getting good spark from the coil lead to ground, I am assuming you are referring to the high tension lead, then, you should be focusing on the rotor and cap. As been mention before, are they are matched unit?
  21. So tell us, what are the extra appointed features of the richman's Chrysler over the poorman's Plymouth? Yep, you have run out of fuel in the carb on that first run up the hill.
  22. Yep, as mentioned, any will do the job. Universal Car Truck Vehicle Battery Disconnect Cut Off Rotary Switch Brass W9H3 | eBay
  23. Easy to remember for a bloke, 15 (too young) 36 (too old) 24 (just right)
