  1. 10-16: Hauling grass/weeds, etc. to the compost with the B1C. Perfect autumn day! Truck ran great. Also, the B1C served as my transport to Verizon to get my phone looked at ?
  2. 10-14: Filled up with gas today, 14 and 1/2 gallons in the last 5 weeks. Also greased all the moving parts on both sides of the hood, which it really needed. Both front tires were down to 20 lb, and pumping them back up to 35 lb solved my hard steering problem. It also needed a quart of oil. My son and I cruised around for a little bit and cycled the heater. It works pretty good but smells old. I don't think it's ever been taken apart. The picture is right after I backed in and shut her down for the night.
  3. I just put a new speedometer cable in my truck, and I'll tell you this, I was bumping into wires all over the place. I wonder if he did loosen something up. I would check that first before even getting out any jumper wires or test lights. a wire gets pulled and things loosen pretty quickly. I also recently had a failed heater fan switch in my truck, which turned out to be a loose connection.
  4. Let me get this pertronix thing out of the way first. there are some people that have been running for years on pertronix with no issues. There are also some people where it failed immediately. Mine failed after about 4 years. Ended up blowing my muffler out. I am testimony that pertronix is NOT either working or not working... At least in my experience. My Meadowbrook ran, but it ran like crap when that thing failed. It didn't just die. Anyway, I didn't mind trying it and like I said it worked for about 4 years before it failed. I went back to points. When I went back to points, I had the same problem that you have: the car would not start. I could not figure it out. I mean, the car would run no matter where the distributor was turned, which is a testimony to these old flatheads. Mine will run with a loose carburetor and a spark plug wire off! Anyway this is what I had to do to get it started: If your timing is supposed to be let's say 5° before top dead center, and you can actually read the guage, set it there. Then take a test light to the coil side of the points and turn your distributor until that test light lights up. Tighten down the distributor. The car should start. Then time it with a vacuum gauge just to be sure. Also make sure that none of your wires inside the distributor have any bare spots that are touching the walls or touching on their way out of the distributor, if they are you have just grounded out the distributor and your car will not start. Double check that for sure before doing everything else. I am happily running points again in my Meadowbrook and will never go back to pertronix. And you don't have to use a nail file on points. You use a business card saturated with rubbing alcohol to take the dirt off, using a nail file just wears down the points even more.
  5. Should be the same as a truck. 63". DCM Classics has them. I just bought one for my 48 Dodge B1C. It works great.
  6. 10-9: Out for a cruise in the Meadowbrook with my oldest daughter. We went down by a Veteran's Park, then on to a different part of the lake, and then to Bronx to look at their pumpkins! The Meadowbrook is so much easier to drive than my truck! ?
  7. 10-9: Back at home again. I copied what I had done in the Meadowbrook and put a wool blanket down on the seat. This one is a World War II Navy blanket that I got for $10 at a flea market. All I had to do was fold it in half and tuck it in. Now we don't slide around or get burned by a hot seat.
  8. 10-9: Out hauling brush and grass clippings to the compost. The nicely painted truck you see is someone I ran into that was cruising around. They've owned the truck for 45 years. It has a 355 engine, Camaro front end, and a Cadillac rear end all to make it more streetable. It sounded nice with dual exhaust. I talked to them for about 5 minutes. Later my daughter and I stopped at Veteran's Park by the lake.
  9. I found this 37 Studebaker President 8 Custom Coupe. I can't get the second picture loaded that shows it from the rear. It's definitely not as elegant as the one you posted Keith. Dog dish hubcaps, but the logo on them is the same. Different trim along the hood. The picture that I can't get uploaded shows a better shot of the hubcaps and some other features. No spare tire on the driver side of this one. It does have a rumble seat though. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/streamlined-find-1937-studebaker-president#&gid=1&pid=2 Okay I got the link uploaded. If you click on the picture you can scroll to picture number two.
  10. 10-6: Got the new spring kit for the front brakes installed. Got everything adjusted. Went out for a ride and the car pulls to the right slightly and I have brake drag on the right side. When I assembled everything I was assuming quite the opposite. I thought that I might be tightening the passenger brakes. I'll pull it apart tomorrow to make sure the wheel cylinder didn't spring. That's what happened to the the driver's side at one point. I'll get it yet! When we were filling up for gas a guy pulled up on his motorcycle to tell me he liked my car. He had no idea what it was. We chatted for about 5 minutes. He said if it was his car he would lower it and make a rat rod out of it ?
  11. I have Langdon's Empi 32/36 on my 51 Dodge Meadowbrook and on my 48 B1C truck. No issues. Glad I made the switch.
  12. I've been putting it off Merle. If I can finish the return spring kit in the American tonight, the B1D is next.
  13. I've seen this video several times before. It's always fun to watch. I wonder if somewhere out there videos exist for each year of manufacture. I'd watch them all ?
  14. Simply fantastic....what an awesome opportunity! Thank you for sharing. ?
  15. 10-4: Out for a cruise with my daughter. The first picture shows Veteran's Park in the background. The one memorial that you can see is for the Korean war. Pic 2: back at home on the pad. No problems, the truck ran well. I'll have to look into adjusting that speedometer so it rests at 0 though.
  16. 10-3: Local Elks Lodge show today. All proceeds went to this country's Veterans. Spaghetti dinner and the fun and famous "pumpkin drop" from 145ft via a crane. Two 150lb pumpkins were the finale! I talked to one gentleman who wanted to know everything about the Rambler, and he wanted to buy it as well. I had to let him down gently ?
  17. Awesome! It looks like great fun. Thanks for sharing ?
  18. 10-2: Out cruising with the kids. The second picture has a train in the background. We were out for about an hour and 15 minutes. It was a calming ride. I'm having grounding issues with my brake lights and blinkers. I'll have to work on that soon. The Meadowbrook has that special stank that we always love when we hop in the cabin.
  19. I'll put to rest any rumors about Elmer and his collection of cars and toys etc. First of all, he has a museum with over 100 cars and 700 pedal cars and all kinds of other toys. Unfortunately Elmer passed away a couple of years ago. I talked to his daughter today and asked her if there was an auction after his passing. there was rumors that Jay Leno or one of his associates was going to come and buy a couple of cars. That did not happen. 2 years before Elmer passed away he sold his Superbird and his Daytona. Those brought big money, and I know the guy that bought them. Everything else remains intact at the museum. Like I said that was straight from his daughter.
  20. Awesome! Amazing transformation ?
  21. From a distance my son yelled: "Dad, look! A Kaiser Manhattan!" The tour group looked at him, and then was amazed that he was right. That "Roadside Relics" book I bought has come in handy for sure!
  22. Dodge, Divco, DeSoto hood ornament.
