  1. @Andydodge how love that build and I really like your post and wish I had the money and time to do all the research to locate parts that I would need. its really an inspiration to see that and some day when I good financially I would complete that dream.
  2. @rrice2000 oh I see a lot of time and dedication on the block which is good. may I ask where you were ale to get the head bolts or you can go to any hardware store and locate some?
  3. @Go Fleiter I have the service manual well atleast a version of it and not very helpful and I like to ask people with these similar cars for advise and their expertise just cuz they have encounter these issues before. but the info ypu provide did help very much and thank you again.
  4. @Andydodge oh ok that makes sense I didnt even think about checking that tube out when I had did the water pump, do you know where I would be able to find a brass one in the l.a. county? and I see you upgraded the valve cover/head and was that hard to find as well?
  5. @Bryan ok sounds good will try my best to get those freeze plugs out because for sure they are leaking and is that hard to find the brass ones? also thank you for that video very informative.
  6. @Go Fleiter where exactly is that water distribution tube at? Cuz I was thinking maybe the head gasket and the fact that's there's no expansion tank for coolant maybe?
  7. @Bryan about those plugs I do have like two out of 5 leaking or was leaking is there another way to remove those?
  8. @SniperI appreciate the help with the service manual and I haven't gave it a full look thru but I will look into it and thanks again!
  9. Hey guys finally got my '47 running after replacing fuel tank with sending unit and generator along with starter but as I was letting it idle notice it was running hot and I have already replaced water pump, thermostat, hoses and radiator and my only other guess would have to be the head gasket, does anyone know the torque specs for the head bolts or any other related info I would highly appreciate your guys help. Seems like I have to keep dumping money but totally worth it
  10. @wagoneer oh ok duh that makes sense lol didnt think of that lol. its a coupe not a sedan or truck.
  11. @Plymouthy Adams oh ok didnt see it marked on old sending unit I wonder on new one if it would be label? but thanks for the advise and definitely look into that.
  12. Hey guys my build is coming along great finally got the generator fixed and wired up and also the starter rebuilt and installed finally was able to drop fuel tank and remove sending unit and now waiting on a complete fuel tank package to come in but was wondering if any one out there that can give some advise about wiring the fuel sending unit because I'm still running that 6V system and there's two wires that connect to the sending unit, is there a certain way it should go or try to match it up how it was when I removed it? and advise would be highly appreciated.
  13. I wanna first off wanna thank everybody for the assistance and support. was able to figure out the generator situation, first off its marked on it with stamped letters haha just had to make new connections for the terminals. As for the gas tank I just started to remove the side panels of the trunk to have more room to access the fuel sending unit and instead of cutting the carpet I was able to remove it and will just have to re-glue it but thats no biggie, haven't had time to go back and drop the tank but hopefully I can drop it from the trunk or is it from the bottom where the straps are?
  14. @LrudyD that's true. might just have to check it out when im taking it out.thanks for the advise
  15. @LrudyD oh wow just looking at the examples you provided very helpful and thanks again with your help I was so lost when it came down to it and I figured isn't that what this forum is about lol and I would like to help if I can as well . I will try to attempt this when I get my day off and also that listing you provided is way better than what I was about to pay and thanks but you don't think I should upgrade the straps and sending unit or just get tank? what would you do?
