  1. I agree, I highly doubt you have enough reach with the short throw out bearing to release the clutch..
  2. I see your in Surprise Az, have a buddy that lives there in winter months, he is also in the old car hobby , , ,You may know him, Fred Porter
  3. Yes the guides was installed corrected, I have sneaky suspicion the guides weren’t reamed to spec after they was installed. Motor is coming back out this weekend.
  4. I ran remote reservoirs when I done my conversion, ECI Brakes supplied everything i needed
  5. Well I thought I had the rebuild on the 230 in the 49 Wayfarer behind me but that’s not the case. Developed a miss around 30 Miles, ran a compression test and #1 cylinder was dead. Pulled the side cover and saw the exhaust valve wasn’t dropping back down. I pulled the head and the exhaust valve is stuck tight. I’ll be pulling the manifold to gain access to the valve spring keeper. Probably buy a new valve also. i most likely will be investing in a hand held valve guide reamer unless someone on the site has one to loan. Never ends with this ole cars , does it. :=) Dave
  6. Avoid SMS like the plague, once they get you money you’re at their mercy. Google them and read the reviews, a lot of unhappy customers. I’ll never deal with them again and wouldn’t advise anyone else either.
  7. Pictures of my original seal, lip of seal goes towards engine. Notice the manufacturer part numbers DPC stamp.
  8. I used the Best 4164 Seal on my 49 Dodge Wayfarer 230 engine when I done my overhaul this past winter. No issues at all , no machining and no leaks. It was a direct fit and identical to the original I removed.
  9. I’m interested in the sisson choke, any idea on shipping to 47022 Indiana

Thank you for understanding. I calculated the shipping on the USPS website, but the clerk said first class was cheaper .

On the chance I could save you a couple  bucks, I said ok.  Again, thanks for understanding.

Sisson choke arrived today, I tested it and it seems to operate as it should. I’ll put in in the cabinet Incase mine should fail.

      Thanks again Dave

  10. Got do your local parts house and get the correct studs, they’re readily available.
  11. If it’s made of aluminum the caustic solution in the hot tank more than likely dissolved it.
  12. When I done my rebuild this past winter my local parts house couldn’t located them in brass including Napa, Even tried Sumit Racing and they showed them as not available. I purchased them off E Bay.
  13. I have had mine installed for 2 years, yes I retained my clutch pedal and fluid drive.
  14. I installed the ECI dual reservoir master cylinder kit on my 49 Wayfarer Roadster and have no complaints at all.
  15. Whatever size your wheel cylinders and master cylinder accept. That what I would use.
  16. SMS still exists but be cautious, do an internet search about issues with their turn around time and customer service. Once they have your money you basically don’t matter anymore. Lots of horror stories on them on the web.
  17. Always good news when there’s a happy ending .
  18. I done my rebuild myself, I did have to farm all the machine work out but still ended up with around $2500 invested. That was including the cam being reground. I don’t think he hurt you too bad on cost.
  19. No sealer is needed on the manifold gaskets.
