  1. Hi louie good to see another Aussie on the site Jim robinson has the water pumps Also I believe Auto surplus in Melbourne has them . I was going to rebuild mine but shaft and fan hubs were that seized together i went with a new one . Much easier:D Also they seem to be popping up on Aussie ebay site at the moment.
  2. Gday from downunder if the noise you heard was sounding like a tappet noise could be a gudgeon pin bushing i had this happen in a plymouth on no. 6 . Sounded quiet at idle but when reving the motor got louder . Hope this will help you dianose your problem.
  3. Looks great almost the same colour as my48 Aussie Desoto welcome to the forum
  4. I work as a maintenace fitter (think you guys would call me a millwright) at Ford motor company Geelong Australia
  5. Not an aussie built one rear door top is strait ours are curved as we used a 39 Dodge body modifyed to suit the front clip also interior trim on doors is different.
  6. Looks good but to square in the rear . Other than that its a nice ute . Ford of Australia made them in the 50's just google Ford mainline utes.
  7. Geelong Victoria Australia Home of the best Aussie rules team:D
  8. i have seen the guy that does the hood mascots there from downunder (Australia) :Dhe also does 33 -34 as well as Dodge and Chrysler . There realy neat.
  9. That guage cluster looks like it came out of a bondage shop .
  10. Could also be from steering box if seals have gone i had that problem on my Desoto or maybe master cylinder if nothing is wet under motor
  11. Had a look at the picture of that motor you will need to change over the sump for it to fit in the 1946 - 48 frame . Will not clear the stearing . I just bolted the sump from old engine as it still fitted up.
  12. Should fit i had a 1954 Plymouth motor in my Aussie Desoto. When I bought the motor i put the gearbox from the desoto on had to use the flywheel and clutch from old motor. Used a Ford laser Alternator to convert to 12 volt . I left the old starter motor on just turns over a bit faster
  13. Just saw on ebay Aust a 1946 mercury for sale in background is a 1946 - 1948 Dodge . its item number is 190287634188 . Maybe it might be for sale or have a rear window . Either way worth a try
  14. Rockerbilly i can understand how hard to find parts . Try Jim Robinson on 53454094 or Les Sonter on (02) 96398705 they might be able to help .
  15. Got a spare from a guy who was rodding it the old one is still stuck in the housing . I think when the bearing let go it sheered the spline . 33 and 34 diff are the same other years the housing changed from what i can tell.
  16. Thanks i would love to get a convertible or coupe and put the spare grille i have in but they are as rare as anything over here. Have only seen one since i started collecting and lust after it every time i see it. Have put another pic of the roofline in have been told it is a 40-41 roofline and upper doors. This was before interior was done i change it from the dark brown to off white as it was just to dark inside.
  17. Hi Manuel i have owned this car for about 12 years third owner since new . I dont have much info on first owner but know that durring the war was stored and was sold to an English imagrint after the war. I bought it off his son in Melbourne. When bought it had been off the road for 2 years and in that time the roof had failed and the interior was all water damaged plus a little frame rot as it is a wooden frame. All numbers on the car match witch is the hardest thing to get as it is the model with the 3 1/8 bore motor used only that year. i have been on 2 Bay to Birdwood Rallys with this car unfortunally on one ocasion ihad the diff fail and could not make it to the start .
  18. good for a laugh i hope one day to get a coupe or convertible then i will have to learn to drive the other way.
  19. Thanks i have that one on the wreck out back in the paddock will have to swap it back this was the one on the car when i got it and i thought they just changed it with the years as a differance.l
  20. figured out how to put more than one pic on . the other cars are 1923 Dodge tourer & a 1933 Dodge sedan i own.
  21. et.com/albums/pp165/sp15cspecial/pair1.jpg[/img]G] Still have to put some trim on when it is restored ie: sill stainless strips and Special deluxe emblems Unfortunely person before me must have been a Jedi liked to use the force when parking . Still have to straighten out & fill holes . Also put a couple of other pics of my other cars just to show im' a mopar man to the core:D
  22. Yes but they used the roofline and top of the doors from a 39 Dodge from what i have found out. Will post more pictures to show theese differances.
  23. The griie is all stainless except for the parking lights as they come rom the D25 . I also have one of theese & another desoto as parts cars + a Plymouth that will one day grace the road again. The hood stripe was not on when the photo was taken and our cars did not have the bright trim around the windscreen. I hope to post more pictures on so as to show the differances between our model and yours.
