  1. Hi everyone, Is there anyone here that has a chrome headlight ring for a 52 truck. I just lost mine on the highway. Also am tired of taking apart my wiper motor and putting it back together so it can function again for a day or 2. It's my daily driver and wipers are a must have when you're living in the Netherlands. Right now it's snowing. Hope anyone is willing to sell. Thanks, Jan Willem jw@partsstore.eu
  2. Solved the problem. The plunger was loose allright. I think at a certain point this engine has been rebuilt. Compression of all cylinders is almost the same. Less than 5% different. No oil consumption at all. 15Mpg. I think when they put it back together there was another spring installed. Or maybe they changed the spring before it once was rebuilt to increase the oil pressure on the worn engine. I installed a shorter spring an filled it up with washers till I got 35lbs at idle and 55 at full speed. I think that will do. Thanks for the help guys.
  3. Hi everybody. My oil gauge blew apart. Have a Snap on gauge on there now but am afraid I am blowing that apart as well.I have about 140lbs of pressure at idle which is a bit much. Took the pressure relief valve out of the engine and everything is intact. Put some washers behind the plug to give the spring some more tension but am wondering if somebody ever experienced the same and could tell me how he loved it. Thanks, Jan jw@partsstore.eu
  4. No luck yet. Motor has 2 brushes. 1 is positive and the other is grounded. No matter what I do it keeps turning the wrong direction(dragging on the brushes instead of pushing them in) I even put a positive on the casing and hooked up negative on the switch and it still turns the wrong way. HELP I need to get them working. I almost killed someone today. It was dark and raining and didn't see him.
  5. Will pay for shipping ofcourse. Has to go to Cottage Grove, OR
  6. Hi, Anyone has a spare water pump pulley he might want to sell? Mine is missing quite a chunk of it. Still drives fine but it's not doing to good on the belt. The pulleyt is about half an inch thick. THanks, Jan
  7. Hi Everyone, The gas here does cost about 10 bucks a gallon here in the Netherlands but I just had to let you know that my little truck is doing an average of 16 miles per gallon for the last 500 miles I drove it. That is about 40% less than what I thought it would do.
  8. Hi, Searched around what kind of engine oil to put in my truck. 1952 B-series Flathead. We hardly ever have weather that makes water turn into ice. And it never gets real hot either.
  9. I think the motor has been turning the wrong direction. Everythin moves freely. I am going to grind the brushes back to their original shapen and hook it up to a 6V battry charger and see what it does. Thanks for the replies. Might contact you later Mike. I hope I don't have to. Jan
  10. I will try and switch the wires that go to the brushes and see if it starts turning the right direction.
  11. It's 6V. I do not have the knob. Only the part of the switch where the knob has to go on. Yes, it's about half an inch long and pencil shaped.
  12. Hi everyone, Since my truck is in the Netherlands now and not in California it has to cope with rain, and a lot of it. 2 days ago my wiper motor stopped working. I took it apart and couldn't find anything wrong with it. However the brushes were worn at an angle. I cleaned everything an put it back together. Still doesn't work. The thermal safety thingy(don't know the right word for it) kicks in after about 2 seconds. Before I start taking it apart again and alter the brushes I thought it might be a good idea to ask if anyone else has had this problem before? Here are all the specs and things that came up. - Truck has negative ground done by previous owner - Do I need to rewire the wiper motor as well? - The angled wear of the brushes could be caused by the wiper motor turning the wrong way. Instead of pushing the brushes back in its housing it would drag the brushes sideways. Is this correct? - Because the brushes are worn at an angle the surface of the brushes has become larger. That way it's hitting more of the copper colored plates it rides on causing it to stall. Is this correct? - If I have to rewire the motor, what wires do I have to switch? - Anyone here have a spare wiper switch or knob? Mine came with the knob broken of. Hope there's anyone here that can help me out. Thanks and best regards, Jan
  13. Hi everyone, Wanted to let you guys know that my truck went trough technical inspection here. I am driving the truck daily now and am having a killer time with it even with gas prices exceeding 10 bucks a gallon here. I think there are less than 10 of these trucks in the whole country here so you can imagine it really turns heads. I am hauling around 383's, 400's and a lot of 440's to and from the machine shop with the truck before they go back into the cars I build them for. Engine starts running better and better day after day. Transmission whine is still there but a lot less than it was. I will pull it and see what bearing is causing this. My transmission is not in rubber mounts but bolted sol,id to the frame. This might cause the whine as well. Window wipers stopped working. Probably the first time they were used in the last 20 years or so. I opened up the wiper motor and didn't find anything weird except that the brushes were worn of at an angle. Does anyone have experience with these? I cleaned everything and soldered it back together but it doesn't turn anymore. My truck is converted to negative chassis by the previous owner. - Could it be that I have to rewire the wiper motor? - The wipers would work the same if the wiper motor was turning the wrong way. Could the motor turning the wrong way cause the brushes to wear inappropiate? - Because the brushes are worn at an angle the surface area of the brushes is larger now. Could that be the cause of the motor not turning anymore? - Does anyone have a spare wiper switch? Mine came with a broken of knob. Will post some pictures when I have my company logo on it.
  14. Hi everyone, I am looking for a 4-speed for my 52 truck. The one I have now needs quite a lot of TLC. Since it's my daily driver I would like a seperate trans I can rebuilt and then swap. If you have a spare one synchro or non synchro let me know. You can reach me at info@partsstore.eu Thanks, Jan
