  1. I get the engine hot- 170 degrees+ then add 1/2 cup electra sol dishwasher powdered cleaner. Then run it about 20 miles bring home e and drain- That way I think i get most of the crud out while still suspended in the hot water. I usually do it one time but have on bad cruded up engines done it twice. It is a good cleaner- a really good grease/oil solvent cleaner. Works for me - However the absolute best is a good shop and leaving it soak over night and flushed out with fresh water in the am. Lou
  2. Mine is a 2 door. My thinking was that Army navy etc tok all they could get in 41 just after war started. I think Don's post might be correct. Anyway this is my way of preserving the car while it awaits my attention. Just a fun thing to do Lou
  3. Michael On several occasions I have watched various threads in which you have participated degenerate into "shouting matches". I will remind you of your quote it I think August of 09 I'm not using the forum, to discuss them, their being sold in another medium if you have a question i will gladly answer it, in that medium. I'm not trying to bring business IN the p15 website, I'm trying to interact with fellow owners. If interacting with fellow members is telling them to go F++themselves and calling them other names is interacting I really don't care to have any part of it. there are or have been a lot of things said in what I presume to be anger- this is the best reason in the world to stay on topic and not get personalties involved over principals. What principal you say? Well how about remembering we are here to exchange information about cars not our personnel lives where we might eat the cost of goods sold etc. I think you all should step back and as yourselves is this worth arguing about and cussing each other out? Personally it disgusts me . Some of you might have noticed over the last few years I just about quit contributing to threads- can you guess why?? think it over is it worth while the bickering? Is it productive? How do you feel when you have told someone off- better or mad- this applies to all of us. Do you want to be right or Happy- If you are criticizing or cussing someone out you ain't gonna be both - you can be right but not happy . All of us should Just consider it befroe we shoot o our words. Lou
  4. Have decided to make my 41 2 dr sedan into a WWII staff car. Anyone got Any pics as a reference? Also anyone got any ideas on olive drab paint?? What rustolieum colors would blend to make o drab? thanks Lou
  5. Friend Has a Chry 8 cyl with semi automatic-whatever- drive has lots of trouble with the engine. He would like to know if he ca swap out a 6 cyl Chrysler for the 8? All help- appreciated Lou
  6. Actually very little horsepower is involved. The alternator uses the same as it always did and the compressor uses only 3 hp under a load- according to the compressor (sanden) people. I would guess about 8 at the max. On my 48 sedan I run a 6 volt gen and a 12 volt alt and a compressor . -- Dual system. It is on a hopped up Asche engine and I really do not notice any difference. The old reciprocating piston type compressor used about 10 to 12 hp but not the new rotary type Lou
  7. I have a couple of thes plates if anyone is interested- they will have to be drilled for the alt and compressor brackets. Brackets cost me about 40 each If want one let me know
  8. It was beautiful day at the meet in moultrie. I bought absolutely nothing except some alligator tail on a stick- very good and a sliced beef and cheese Philly sub- jut OK not great. The nice thing besides the weather was that I needed to buy absolutely nothing and I did just that!! using a 57 Chevy as a benchmark- last year a 2 door hardtop very good condition was 35 thous plus yesterday it as 22 500 to 20 grand. A post 57 2 door last year was 25 to 28 grand now 17 to to 20. big drop in prices about 1/3 Have enough toys for now will just have to suffer thru this dip with my 58 dodge and 60 desoto b Besides it think fins are tacky!! 17. I am appalled at this thread. I have nicely said before our purpose here is not to engage in politics or political opinions yet here we are doing it again. I will not delve into this rhetoric- no useful thoughts or actions will result- every one of you has your minds made up- that is fine but politics and social views has no business here In a word or 3 words - STOP IT NOW- if you do not I can pretty well guarantee the demise of this site. I saw this exact same thing happen on an A model site- now pretty well defunct-I was one of the ones who left the site. Politics and social views are outside issues- Please keep them outside not inside this great site. Thanks Lou
  18. I did not remove anything- it just sits there under the top of the cover- besides where is it going to go?
  19. I had the problem of the clogged in the tank filter- I put full pressure from my compressor 120 lbs it blew it off. left it alone and then put an in line filter under drivers side rear door of 4 door. been working fine ever since Lou
  20. Replacing plug wires on my 48 convert- What is a good off the shelf set that gives a little room for moving the dist cap off to side as you remove the dist? thanks Lou
  21. I have a quired a 58 Dodge with an actual working 8 track player actually has great sound. I can get blank tapes to record. So I also have several Cd's of various artists. Question is can I run cable and RCA jacks to the recorder 8 track player/recorder and record the Cd's on to 8 track tapes-I know it is in reverse but hell I have been doing things backwards along time Lou
  22. Also I would take a very close look at the present tires. If they look good run them a while and see what happens. The replacement tires on these cars are often coker or other brand and they carry a very high rubber content and are designed for low mileage and but long age life. the tires on my a model are 20 yrs old and are just fine but new ones on my caddy are shot after 5 years. Also remember if the tires on her were not in sunlight a lot they will last a long time. The ones in the pic look very good so I would be hesitant to replace unless u plan on a lot of Long distance driving at 55 + Lou
  23. I have 205 x75x16 on mu 48 from diamond tire. They do exceptionally well. no need for tubes just be sure the stem in the rim is well mounted - if a bit rusted aroun the edbes clean it up and put in a truck stem or tractor stem. your present tires on car are?/ Lou
  24. Carpet My 20 yo son had one comment on carpet " How did they talk grandma out of her living room carpet? It is actually put in very well and looks kinda period to me Lou
