  1. I think their information is owner based. What the owner provides is promoted and trusting the owners to be accurate. Yeah, sure, that happens all the time. Not interested in watching reserve cars maybe sell. BJ at least has informed commentators.
  2. Glad they worked out for you. Look a lot better on your boards than what was left of mine. Swiss cheese would have been optomistic for describing mine. I'm planning on fabricating new ones in a couple of months..
  3. Several members are parting out some trucks. It would help if we knew where you were located. Somebody might be close and that helps locate parts in your area.
  4. The original left front mount is different than the others. Most are putting the same mounts on all four corners.
  5. I think I read that someplace too. i just looked on the back of a gallon jug. 50/50 mix will get you down to -34, 63 % mix will get you to -64. Price of the stuff, use a mix. Should get you all the protection you need.
  6. That much snow usually means roofs are about to collapse. I'd sure try to get some of that off or you'll have snow on the inside as well. My neighbor has a picture of my father straddling the power lines after a snow fall back in 1958. Granted, I'm sure drifting was also involved. I remember thinking that maybe I could straddle it also but wasn't brave enough to chance it. My legs weren't very long at the time. The neighbors were shoveling a path for the snow plow (grader with V-plow ) to follow. My brothers and I looked down to the top of the grader. Some memories seem to stay with you forever and that's one of them.
  7. Tha means you have to work on it every day all winter long to show your appreciation. My wife will give up her half of the garage for a dayor two in the summer fairly easily but winter is different. She hates scraping windshields which is a morning ritual now when it's outside so she's not really very happy when her vehicle sits outside and when mama ain't happy.....
  8. I see in the picture it has it's tongue sticking out. That's got to be a rare piece to find anymore.
  9. That's been my plan all along. Truck will be built at least twice except for final upholstery but pieces will be fit prior to paint. Some parts have been off the truck over a half dozen times just because it's easier to work on them that way or I need to get at what's behind or under them. Frame's been upside down a couple times and a couple more at least to go. Dan's doing a really nice job on his truck, thinking his way through the problems, finding good solutions and will have an awesome vehicle when finished.
  10. I'm looking at using a floor mounted shifter to go along with maybe a short console. Bench seat is out and buckets are in so I have a small space between them I can use.
  11. Get the rest of the engine controls, accessories, trans shifter mocked up before pulling the engine and trans back out so you don't have to hack on anything nicely painted or cleaned. Grinders and torches don't mix well with fresh paint and tight confines.
  12. Are you suggesting Mike get into the 'shine business? He'd want something a lot less noticable these days than a Pilothouse. How big did James make it in the movie business?
  13. With the addition of synchros to the transmision, double clutching became a lost art. The "grrrrrr" went away when drivers became profficient at double clutching. It was also used when split shifting a two -speed rear axle truck even when the trans was synchroed.
  14. They forgot the part where it goes "grrrrrrrrr, grrrrrrrrrr".
  15. That route van would look really cool with the top chopped about a foot. OH- sorry, My mind tends to wander of in unknown directions. I'll have to go find my meds. Now, is two blue pills or one green and one yellow. The pink ones look good........
  16. Who is Mitchum talking to and what movie was that?
  17. I've found a couple of Lokar shifters for the 727 at Summit Racing and Jegs or just contact Lokar on their websirte. I'm not at the tail light stage but in keeping with the frenched look I have up front, they will be frenched into the rear panel. Mounting holes in the stake pocket and bed side for wires and mounting have all been filled along with the holes for side reflectors, tie down hooks and the kerosine roadside flares that unfortunately were too rusted to be of any use. License plate will most likely be frenched in as well. My dash panel has been removed for a handbuilt unit and will be replacing the gauges with a modern Quad gauge and speedometer. 318 will fit as will the 392 but bear in mind, neither is a bolt in and can be a daunting task if you've never done this before. It's extremely easy to lose interest in a build with these kind of compexities.
  18. You're probably right and I was givig him the benefit of the doubt. I did a truck in satin black and found it impossible to match by painting seperate components on seperate days. The difference was noticable inside and really stood out when outside in full sushine. As difficult as it was to paint, I will say that spraying the satin improved my spray technique more than any other project ever did.
  19. That thing is way cool. Plus a whole yard full of projects. sewveral lifetimes worth at least.
  20. The paint changes may just be the lighting. Look at another way. For a truck to look that nice, the owner probably sold it at a loss. It takes a LOT of time and money to get them that nice, especially if hired. Paint alone can cost as much as that truck brought.
  21. Looks really good. I would suggest putting a trans support crossmember on it if you haven't already. I'd hate to see you break the mounting ears off that oh so clean and bright transmision
  22. Horkey's has a lot more pieces now than he used to but still doesn't have the high box sides and the picture of the front panel doesn't look like the original stamping pattern. Like I said, aftermarket is starting to step it up.
  23. Our first snow last night, about 5-6 inches. Kids have already got the sleds out and put them to use. Village sledding hill is right behind our house and has numerous tracks already. Truck is inside, except for one bedside, snug and cold but where I can work on it.
  24. I replace the throw-out brgs whenever I do a clutch. I don't like redoing work for the small cost of the brg. Cheap insurance. Time spent taking it back apart a second time is time that could be spent doing something else. I also hate breakdowns wich always seem to happen at the most inopportune time or place.
