  1. http://p15-d24.com/topic/29644-flathead-ac/page-3
  2. Instrument service called me and explained that only Chevr.Used 30 ohms fuel gauge and all mopar used 10-73 ohm he also had confirmed with Roberts and Bob's instrument service all mopar 1948 is 10-73 So my new and old fuel sender are bad
  3. recieved another answer from Instrument Service Inc. "Good Morning: According to our repair manuals for the gauge and sender, the correct ohms and sender are 10-73 ohms. The gauge was hooked up to our 6v reducer prior to shipping back and it worked properly. If you would like to discuss this further, please call us at 800-558-2674. The emails that you have received have been sent by Lori(Office Manager) and John(Manufacturing Manager). Thanks, Lori Instrument Services, Inc. "
  4. stay away from these clowns, Instrument service Inc. Machesney Park IL, they are not responding
  5. photo of my gauge showes 1 upper left 2 upper right connects to tank unit, ignition to center, -1948 2 pol 30 ohms 1949- 1 pol 73 ohms
  6. but the repair guys are now telling me that my fuel gauge after repair now is a 10-73 gauge !! my sending units are both 30 ohms . and they are asking me to buy another sending unit that is 10-73 , but is that any such sending units on the market for a 1948 plymouth ?
  7. another answer from the same company "The meter that was in your gauge was tested and read 10-73 ohms, so that is what was put in. If you use a sending that is the same ohms the gauge should work for you. However if you are on a 12v system, you will still need the correct voltage regulator. If you have any other questions, you may call us. Thanks, Lori Instrument Services, Inc. only me that believe that they made a mistake installing/converting my gauge to 10-73 ohms ? and that they now are blaming me for sending them a 1948 10-73 ohms gauge ?
  8. another answer from the repair company " Our techs checked the meter that was in the gauge when we received it. It was a 10-73 ohm meter. We put a new meter in it that was also a 10-73 ohm meter. We have a voltage regulator that we use. They are $80.00. Thanks, Lori Instrument Services, Inc.
  9. Hi guys , just installed my fuel gauge , repaired by Instrument service Inc. Machesney Park IL, but I have a problem , after one minute the gauge shows 3/4 and everything is fine but after 2 minutes gauge drops to empty. I installed a new sender but same story , so I wrote to the repair shop and this is there answer "Our techs said you should have a 10 to 73 ohm sending unit for your vehicle. We are not familiar with the voltage regulator (7805) that you are using. The one we use is different. Thanks, Lori Instrument Services, Inc. I have two sending units and both are 30 ohms ? is 10 to 73 ohms for 1949 and up ?
  10. HEI distributor installed and engine startup without any problem did not have time to test drive yet , timing advance set to 10 Langdon suggest 10 - 18 deg. a lot more than original. Edit : one hour test drive today , everything went well. short video. http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/cdcadab/media/My%201948%20Plymouth/VIDEO0198_zpsg1dypxsj.mp4.html
  11. yes he sent instructions but no wire diagram so I was not sure how to connect the two wires from distributor but that part is now cleared , he also wrote "delete any resistor" so now I have to figure out if and where I have any resistor in my car.
  12. ok, the coil is a Standard plus UC 15 and it looks like it does not have a built in resistor , but I do have a Volt A Drop on the firewall, looks like porcelain, I guess it has something to do with the 12v conversion.
  13. perfect , thank you, did you delete any resistor ?
  14. car has 12 volt, the pic with resistor is just an example , the instructions from Langdon says to delete any resistor , my questions are : does all 12v cars have a resistor ? I cant find any, and about the two wires from HEI distributor, does pink wire go to + on coil ? did not get any wire diagram from Langdon
