  1. I will definitely take a close look at this. Thanks
  2. Thanks Todd, I will look into that. I looked into the Chrysler overdrive but didn't want to change all the current mounts to make it work and they used the different shifter style that mounts to trans instead of cross member If this is direct bolt in that will be awesome.
  3. I've been thinking the next step is to put a gear vendor overdrive in it. I am trying to keep the car as original as possible but also as safe and user friendly too.
  4. I don't know, wouldn't mind that though. I live in a hilly part and a few extra ponies would be beneficial
  5. Lost ignition and the motor shut down then. I wasn't in the car when it happened. It was idling in my driveway and I was getting some stuff ready to take with
  6. I pulled the pump and the bushing gauled into the shaft. The cam is messed up too
  7. Oil pump locked up. Not sure yet how much metal might have gotten through the motor.
  8. Is there a different flywheel diameter or is it just how it mounts the starter? I wonder if the bell housing will work with the 34 mounts
  9. My 34 plymouth had small square rubber pads on the bottom of the radiator where it sits in the crossmember. The sides are just bolted directly to the grill shell.
  10. I have an issue with my 34 PE 201 engine. I can get ahold of a later model motor that runs to swap in till I can get the 201 repaired. I know I have read where the main issue is the starter not fitting. I was planning on using the original bellhousing and trans from the 34. Any easy work arounds for that and is that going to be the only issue I run into? Thanks for the help.
  11. Thanks guys. Got it fired up last night for the first time in 3 years. Just need to wrap up the brakes and we are ready for the spring! Been out of a running car since I sold my 33 and getting real antsy.
  12. The calipers are gm from a late 70’s Camaro. The rear rotors are Jeep Cherokee and the fronts are from a mopar. I wasn’t sure these motors had enough vacuum to run a booster very well.
  13. Rebuilding the brakes on my 34 PE. Was wondering if anyone knows of an upgraded master cylinder to use besides just rebuilding the original. Would like to go dual reservoir sine I converted it to all disc brakes. Thanks
  14. This was the steps I took: -installed thermostat: 170 degrees -pulled radiator and had flow checked and cleaned -had arthur gould rebuild water pump since it was leaking anyway -reset the ignition point -started up car and checked temperatures around the water jacket with infrared gun. -around the thermostat housing temps would go to roughly 170 degrees and stay -temps around where the temp gauge was mounted would continue to climb and it seems to read on par with what the car's gauge was reading. I hooked another gauge up that I know is accurate by testing with boiling water and that read the same. I was easily reading over 30 degree difference from the front of the motor to the back. By the time the thermostat would open the car's gauge was already 200 plus degrees. -After having the motor flushed, scraped and everything else inbetween I am running about a 5 to 10 degree difference between the front and back of the engine once the thermostat opens up which seems to coinside with the cars gauge. it will get up to about 190 and immediated drops to 175ish.
  15. Update. I took the car to a local garage to have there mechanic look at it. Its a pretty neat place since it was originally a dodge dealership from the teens. He pulled the remainder freeze plug and wire brushed, pressure washed, ran cleaner, etc and got alot of rust and junk out. Now when I start it the temp gauge will go to 190 before the thermastat opens and drops down to 170. Its runs around 175-180 and when coming to a stop might go up to 185. This is reading a temporary sunpro gauge till I can fix the factory one. I am happy with that because the temps seem to be under control for now. I ran into a guy daily driving a 36 dodge humpback and he told me he went to a 5 fan blade and aftermarket water pump. Didn't know they made aftermarket pumps. Now I have to get my oil canister from leaking like crazy.
