  1. rained all day today, maybe tomorrow
  2. Probably try and hook this all up tomorrow and get the old girl fired up. Thanks for all the help.
  3. The generator has a red tag. The positive side of the battery ran to the sylinoid negative to the ground
  4. When I got it the PO had it hooked up oppisite
  5. I also have a 55 Chevy parts car I took on trade for some work I did. It's a V-8 car. Lots of tri-five stuffout tthere cheap. Frame swap though.
  6. I haven't found any thing bolt on for this 54 yet with my searches
  7. The car is factory 6 volt with a generator.I'll have to look at the tag today.
  8. No I don't know which set up I have
  9. Well , still have the car. Its been sitting since the last post. I finally got a hold of the guy and I may finally have a title for it. One quick question is, and I'm sure I'll be flamed for this. I read some where that the negative battery cable should be hooked to the positive side of the battery? I'm thinking of getting back into this project. Anything change in the last year? Did someone come up with a quick easy disc brake set up for these? Probably going to pull it back into the shop in a few weeks and start the planning process. And get the old girl to fire up again. I 'm going to look into disc on the original set up. Funny how things can get set aside. I also picked up a 60 chevy impala 4 door since I was last in here.
  10. Kinda what I figured, I will probably end up doing the disk front. Just gotta so some more research on it. I have done quite a few projects and know the work that is part of it. I was just looking at a way to upgrade and kinda kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The only thing that bothers me now a days is a 4-5 hour trip to a car show and you should happen to break down. Its nice to be able to walk into a parts store and they have what you need on hand.
  11. no I haven't, how pricey is the split manifold for one.
  12. sweet lookin scout in the background . bet you miss it
  13. Gave all this some serious thought at work last night. Now, to all the purist, the last thing I would ever what to do is anger or upset anyone. So far I really like what I see in this site and it seems there are alot of great people in here with a lot of useful knowledge. It reminds me a lot of a scout site I go to, one where you feel like family the first time you visit. I do have a lot of respect for originality and if that was a choice here it would be the route I would go. The car is going to be a nice driver but to go back to original it would be a little more than making a silk purse outta a sow's ear, and this farmer doesn't have that kind of a income. My thought last night was, has anyone ever dropped this body on another frame, something newer with the front disc/rear drum set up already there? even sweeter, something that is already V-8/auto equipped? chevy would be the best in my case. You see......she said something to me the other day I thought I would never hear from her. It was music to my ears. She was looking the interior over as she plans to do this herself and asked if I could put dual exhaust on it!!!!! I truely know I married the right woman now, and just the thought of finding a easy frame/drivetrain swap would be a dream come true, I have done these on other things and have a hoist. August is our big weekend criuse to clear lake Iowa and to complete this by then would be a summer to remember, I have done some searching and found nothing yet, any help would be great.
  14. all things I'm considering, I am also working on a IH scout II right now, the original e-brake cable is hard to come by. some guy used a e-brake set up out of a cherokee and tied it into the existing rear cables. this would be one possibility.
