  1. First I say thank you to everyone out here as the wealth of knowledge out here has been a tremendous help with my car. Over the last year I've used this site countless times for it's wealth of knowledge. I have a '42 P14C that I was intending on getting new tires mounted on this weekend. I decided to work on the alignment and get it dialed in better on the old tires first. My camber is 1.25 degrees positive on the passenger side and 0.5 degrees negative on the drivers side. After looking at my steering knuckle support arm, I realized it's bent. I can't imagine how I didn't catch this before, but there it is. I cannot get the camber adjusted any closer to zero than it's currently set, anything I do with the eccentric makes the camber 2 or 3 degrees positive. So I'm of the thinking that the arm obviously needs replacement, but I have a few questions: 1. Would the bend I'm seeing prevent my adjustment towards negative? The bend almost looks so extreme that by putting a straight arm on, my camber would be too extreme to the negative to get a proper adjustment? Don't want to pull this one off just to make it worse than before. Which leads me to: 2. Is this a common damage from a hit? I've seen posts regarding heating and bending the arms to achieve results in alignment, I'm just having a hard time seeing this part bending before the upper or lower arms? To me it looks intentional? Which brings me to: 3 I posted a few picks of what everything looks like. I've got a new arm coming and I will get the kingpin set from Bernbaum on it's way, but is there anything else I'm missing? To me the upper and lowers look fine, but maybe something stands out to you in the photos? It's definitely worth mentioning that I know this car was in a front end hit at some point in time. It's a very old repair, but my fenders and grill are off a '46. (yes it's definitely a '42, still got a foot button starter) The car has a very old repaint/restoration on it. Just can't believe that the bent arm would still be left over from before that, but maybe. One last tidbit - the car was lowered with front coils being cut by one coil (one of the springs was additionally over compressed by about 1/2 inch too just can't remember which side) and I put new springs in all the way around from ESPO last year. -Thanks
  2. Ahh your right! Didn't even think of that. Thanks - so out it goes!
  3. Hello Folks, I have this odd bracket in my engine compartment mounted to the passenger side wall. It's obviously abandoned and serves no current purpose, but was trying to figure out what purpose it may have had, before I remove it altogether? Maybe it's something that really should be there? To me it looks aftermarket? The car is a 1942 Special Deluxe. And thanks so much to everyone, as this forum and it's wealth of information has been a significant help since I purchased this car back in March.
