  1. Any updates on this project. I'm working on sticking. 5.7 hemi in a 48 Plymouth.
  2. Thanks. That makes me feel a lot better about going this direction
  3. I have a 48 plymouth that I am swapping a 5.7 hemi into. I am planning on using the fatman fabrications caviler rack and pinion set up. My concern is safety. I am wondering if the caviler tie rod ends and the original suspension will hold up. I have rebuilt the stock suspension, done a scarebird disc brake conversion and used the fatman drop arms. Really don't want the steering to come apart at 80+MPH. Thanks for the help.
  4. here is what mine looks like currently with the scarebird brake kit. I ended up drilling and taping the holes for the lower control arm since I am using the fatman drop spindles. obviously I do not have the control arms connected at the moment.
  5. Castle nut has not been torqued. the bracket on the Ply Do kit looks like it install a on the kingpin side of the spindle. the scarebird installs on the other. All the pictures I have seen show the disc brake between the steering arm and the spindle. The scarebird installs just up against the spindle. The fatman instructions say to trim the control arms and counteksink then. This may not be necessary with the scarebird kit.
  6. The gap between the rotor and the scarebird bracket seems to large. also does the Ply Do brake kit mouth on the kingpin side of the spindle.
  7. Unknown is my name because I was being lazy. Yes I am using fatman uprights for the stock suspension and am having a large gap between rotors and bracket. I will try and load pictures later.
  8. Has anyone used a Scarebird brake kit with Fatman uprights. I have some questions with mine.
  9. Thanks for all the resources. Does anyone have a list of parts for a typical suspension rebuild. I'm still new to all this so I tend to ask lots of questions.
  10. So after reading many threads here I have decided to stick with the stock suspension. Does anyone have a parts list to rebuild the front end. Also would it be smarter/cheaper to just buy a kit from kaner or try and source parts from a local parts house. Yes I have used the search engine and read a ton of threads on here.
  11. I called ECI and talked to one of their guys. He said recommended leaving the stock drum brakes on the back. He said it will give you a nice stopping ride and that their master cylinder should work with that setup. I'm still new to all this so feel free to call them yourself to double check but, that is what I found out.
  12. It was around the Lawrence area of Kansas. I inherited the car from my wife's grandfather when he passed away. My wifes grandfather was planning on redoing the car so when I got the car there are some extra parts. I did get the sun visor and I think there may be an extra one or two laying around.
  13. Kansas. Couple more pics we finally got it pulled out of the trees and the motor and tranny pulled. Got around to washing it out today. Now the fun begins.
