  1. He sounds like the first person I would go to when something turns up missing. He knows what you've got, where you keep it, and how to sell it fast. Keep an eye on that one.
  2. They're no good if you gotta splain 'em.
  3. Pack it with grease until it reaches the the shaft bearing. Fill it and then fill the cap and put it on one turn. Every thousand miles, turn it one turn in as part of your thousand mile lube and oil routine. No seal needed.
  4. I want to see more of those dogs.
  5. Satin would be good. Not glossy, same as the generator and starter. Breather pipes, too.
  6. I'll be 74 Monday, but that's just a number. I bought a 1930 Chrysler for $175 on Halloween day, 1961. Another sob story about letting it get away, but next was a first series 49 Plymouth, 53 Cambridge, two matching 59 Plymouths, and now a 48 Plymouth that I've had since the fall of 94.
  7. I think that's too long. Mine is about 49".
  8. I think you may be having too much fun. Good thing you have your family with you to help you out!
  9. Same here. They amplify the speaker, but also all the other sounds around you as well.
  10. Fun is what it's for, remember? You're doing it right.
  11. Congratulations! That's a beautiful car. Real class. Makes our new jellybeans look ridiculous.
  12. Truth is, I wish now that someone had stopped me. It was a bad idea, a bad job, and a waste of a car and a camper. Let's move on.
  13. That Plymouth camper, ('59), is done the same way I put a Tour-a-Home slide-in camper in the back of a '58 Cadillac coup deville. It was real hack job. As bad as you can imagine and worse. Fortunately, a cracked block took it off the road before I killed somebody with it.
  14. I really enjoy reading about your trips. I have my own memories of a certain 51 Dodge and hearing your stories really come alive. I understand your feelings and emotions that you have riding in your own little piece of history. Understand that everyone that ever drove that car had the exact same impressions and feelings. I guess I'm just thrilled that you are appreciating your ownership. I am too.
  15. The bolt is double ended, meaning it has a hex in the middle and threads on both sides of the hex. One thread is longer to go into the block through the bracket. Once tightened, the ground cable, or strap in my case, goes on the exposed threads on the outer end of the bolt. PITA !!
  16. That's the way my p15 was when I got it. It goes to head bolt now because Greg is right about the pain.
