  5. Last year in High School and my first car, 48 ply CC. Paid 35 bucks for it cause the guy that owned it couldn't make it run. 20 bucks later, new head gasket plugs and alcohol I had my memorie maker!! Few years ago decided to give up corvettes and found a 48 Ply CC in a barn in upstate NY. My son and I went up, checked it out and gave it and a family of mice, a ride home. several years later, my riide is like new, offenhauser intake and fenton headers, sound and runs great!! My time machine I share with family and remember what it was like to be young again.
  6. You got it!! Best time to enjoy. BTW, anyone know where I can get a speedo with proper color drum?? 1948 Ply CC.
  7. Scarebird, I just finished installing your kit on my 48 P15 CC. Road side went on smoth, curbside did not. Had problems with caliper fitment, had to grind pad down, rotor hits bottom spindal bolts, both of them, lightly. I'll need to remove the rotor and take another look and see what I can do. Additionally, I need to adjust toe on the front end, expected, but not completed yet. I had received a heads up from you re the thickness of the pads and had NAPA repalce my pads with your recommended. All parts were as you recommended. I am concerned with the fit on the curb side but don't see how I can move rotor out w/o impacting the caliper, which had to have the outside pad ground down significantly, to fit. Any suggestions??
  8. 'Morning all!! Well guys I am on my third career. 20 years in the Army, 25 years in government service and now consulting. Have worked in Satellite Communications, Intelligence and Logistics. Still having fun as I work on my 48 Plymouth CC.
  9. Does anyone know where I can get a speedo rebuilt with the color drum??? My first car was a 48 P15 CC and it had that option. I know have one almost identical to it and would love to have the speedo with a color drum....

  18. 'Morning all. Got lucky last night. Pulled the interior door trim off and was trying to figure out how to release the latch when..the door came open!!! Trying to figure out how and why I noticed that the striker was reall worn, heavy abrasions on the top so I loosened and droped it down about and eigth of an inch and now the door works like a new one!! Appreciate all your input and hope all your poblems with your toys are as easily resolved as this one was for me. When I figure out how to use that new digital camera, I'll post some pictures. Have a great day!!
  19. 48 Club Coupe drivers door.
  20. Guys, Appreciate your input. Yes, I have new custom leather interior, don't want to mess it up. Actually I knew this might happen. Had a problem with the door opening for several months and failed to act, you know, no sense being stupid if you don't show it!! Anyway, got a manual and the same picture but was hoping there was a way to open the door from the window channel. Think the latch is broken at the release cog for the tumbler. I found a replacement latch, just waiting for shipment and hoping for some "sage" advice from this august forum!!!
  21. Thought there might be a way to get the door open first. I imagine I can get the inner door pannel off with it closed, but seems as thought it will be tough. Probably have to remove the seat then with the windlace tight, just had a new interior installed, but...Think the best way is to find a way to "catch" the door latch somehow so I can get it open, then removing the inner door pannel ect is a piece of cake...
  22. Need some help findg a way to open a closed door with a broken latch assembly. Can see the latch thru window channel, can't see how or where to "catch" the tumbler to release...any help??
  23. Think I found a right rear lock/latch and hope I can modify. Thanks much. R/ J
  24. Anyone out there know where I can find a left/drivers door lock/latch assembly or, can I use one from a left rear door and modify a bit. Had a problem with my 48 CC door that for a long time I let go, you know, had to do a double latch effort to get it opened and then, while out for a drive with my wife, the door has now decided to not open at all. So...help/advice ect...
  25. A long time ago when I was 18 I purchased my first car, a 1948 Plymouth club coupe. Cost me $35.00 from a disgrunteled fella who didn't know how to fix it. Well, $10 bucks later, blown head gasket, I had a really great running car that I drove till I went into the service. Never forgot the fun, anyone remember their spedo turning colors from green, to amber, to red??. Anyway, years go by, buy a basket case corvette build it, start realizing how old I am and look for and find an old Plymouth club coupe in a barn in upstate NY. Same color, same interior memories came rushing back. My son, grandson and I went and got it brought it home and made it run. One thing we couldn't do is get the rodent smell out of it so we are in the process of replacing the interior. Why am I telling you guys all this??? Time, its what its about... just time. I drive that old Plymouth and I am a young man again. Like the vette, I can work on this one as long as I can hold a wrench and will drive it every time I get a chance.
