  1. Hi all, My gas tank was done by a company called Re-nuz-it many years ago. I have a filter at the rear wheel and I am planning to install another at the carb. I was playing with the car today and after a vision last night I checked the wiper vacuum line at the manifold and found the line very loose this is why it was running funny, vacuum leak. I also advanced the timing just a little. I have not driven the car. I am going to install the fuel pump as I think the crud I found in the carb has to be in that pump. Let's cross our fingers and toes. Cleaning that tank has crossed my mind. I might do it over the boring winter months. Hey Greg, I solved the problem of stale gas when I can't drive them I run them out of gas. The only car I must drive one more time is the 1966 Pontiac 2+2 convertible, That thing is exciting!
  2. Hi all, so the cap and rotor came in and I installed them. The car ran better however it just cut off after running for a while. I then removed the bowl at the fuel pump. There was some stuff in the bottom. I cleaned it and then took the top off the carb. There was a lot of stuff in the bottom of the carb. I cleaned all of it out and reassembled it. I started the car and it ran ok. I think I need a new carb so I ordered one from Mr. Isgro. I also ordered a fuel pump to be on the safe side. I have replaced nearly everything. I think it's a fuel problem.
  3. GREAT TO HEAR YOUR TRUCK IS ON THE ROAD, IT LOOKS REAL NICE. MY HAWK IS STILL RUNNING MATTER OF FACT IF YOU GOT YOUR November ISSUE OF TURNING WHEELS IT'S ON THE SECOND PAGE AND THERE IS AN ARTICLE IN SIDE.
  4. Hi all, I forgot to mention that although I have a 1940 P-9 the motor that is installed is a 217 from 1950. I think the 1940 Plymouth had a 201 as original. I talked to Mr. Isgro Monday and he is sending me a carb, he is aware of the motor change. I hope this fixes my problem. The little Plymouth is a great car and has been trouble free up to this point. I also ordered a fuel pump from Kanter just in case. I think it's a fuel problem.
  5. Hi, Did ever clean the bowl on your fuel pump. The screen on it. I am also waiting for my Cap and rotor from Burnbaum. I was driving the car the other day and It did the bucking just a little. I also check the timing. I have it 4 degress before TDC.I had a guy come over the other day, he said that the choke flap in the Carb needs to be slanted and not straight up and down.
  6. Hey Greg, how are you. Do you still get your turning wheels mag, I'm in it this month.

Doing well just a lot of aches and pains from getting old.  Don't belong to the SDC, so no turning wheels.  I do know a couple members around here, maybes one of them will let me see the mag.  Which month?

  7. The clutch is fine. I do remember this happening before and It had something to do with the fuel pump. I think the bowl was very dirty and I emptied it and filled it. The problem then went away. I have a cap and rotor coming in the mail. When I rev the motor it back fires out the exhaust a little. that tells me it's ignition related. I think. We will soon see.
  8. I will have to get that info for you. I ordered the Documentary, I never saw it on cable.
  9. The Bucking occurs when you are pulling out in first gear and a little in second gear. Only when the car is driving. At idle the car runs perfect.
  10. Hi all, as you may not know my 1940 Plymouth was in a Documentary last year on the geography channel. It was a 4 part program on the creation of the atom bomb that was dropped on Japan. The car has been sitting other wise as I have been building a 1966 Pontiac 2+2 convertible. After the completion of the 2+2 I began working on the Plymouth. I think the gas has been causing problem with the car. I had the carb rebuilt, replaced the fuel pump. I hope all my old friends are well.

  12. Hi all, I have been playing with my Plymouth here lately and The car is doing something strange. When I put it in 1st gear it bucks like a horse that has not been broken in. I can't seem to stop it. I have given it a tune up I replaced my points with the new electronic ignition and it does the same thing. has anyone had this problem before, it seems I did have this problem a long time ago however I don't remember (old) what I did to fix it. Any thoughts? I think it's the carb What do I know.
  13. I am trying to replace my carb on my 1940 Plymouth P-9 The carb I bought has the wrong size at the base. it measures 2 1/2 between the studs The base is 3 1/2 I need one larger. My question is there a carb with a base stud to stud that is larger than 2 1/2 inches? Thanks in advance.
  14. The Charger turned out great as well. The 1940 Plymouth coupe is still on the road.
  15. Hello everyone, To answer your question. The Pontiac 2+2 convertible is the only new addition I have made to my collection. I did restore the 1966 Charger again. If the Desoto show is going to be in Timoniuom then I am there, it's no that far from me. It is great to see all you guy's still driving and supporting the Mopars. Yes, I still have my little 1940 Coupe. It was in a Documentry last year. The fuel pump had to be replaced because the gas ate the rubber. I took it to a show and they loved the car. It still runs great.
  16. Hello all, I have been working on my project after my surgery to repair my hip(still need the other side done) I see that a lot of you have been getting new projects. It is very good to see that the old members still have their cars from years ago. It's great to see all the new members as well. Mopars must keep going because they are great cars.
  17. These are not stock however they were on my car when I got them. They were in bad shape so I did not install them after the repaint.
  18. Hey Don, I have been working on my 1966 Dodge Charger for the past two years. I did go to Sully car show and I went to see Joe the other day. He has his car on the street and he has been driving it. I saw Jim at the Sully show. last year I saw some of the forum members at Chrysler's at carlise. I have been around just flying under the radar. The Plymouth was in a movie at the end of the year for Velocity Channel. The movie is call American genious. Hey, They tore down our favorite spot. They built something else there.
  19. I have been looking for the lights that goon the front of my car for as long as I have owned it. I was at a Studebaker meet and found the direct replacement for my car. The bolt holes even line up. I got them hook up and on the car. I think I am going to take the car on a breakfast cruz tomorrow morning if it don't rain.
  20. I would like to get me some of that corn head grease. Black eyed peas and rice burning bacon. topped off with some Wolf head oil!
  21. Oh no, I thought one of my other friends took that screwdriver. You had it all the time. I'm in a lot of trouble. I better call him and apologize. The names I called that guy. What I said to his wife. Anyway, I should be around your way this week end. I might have to make a donut run. This week end there is a show at the Aspen hill shopping center. I met a guy with a real nice gray 1948 Plymouth you would really like this guy. He and I were at the Rockville show some weeks back. He has a great car.
  22. Hey Joe, glad to hear you are driving the car. I am doing a movie right now when I get back I have got to see the car all done up. I have been playing with the Charger so you will get to see that thing all finished as well. I can't wait to see it. Rodney
  23. I see the summer is gone and I have not been able to drive my Plymouth. I started it in July and had to rebuild the carb. I drove it that day then put it back in it's place. The Charger took up all my time this year. it is complete now so I guess I need to get back to my Plymouth. They are shooting a movie in Martinsburg WV. They need some 40's and 50's cars. Some of you that are local if you are interested I can put you in touch with the person.
