  1. Fred, congratulations, looks great, btw we here in Oz have a similar problem when getting a US LHD car registered for road use........ the LHD headlights direct the light beam onto the right hand side of the car,( the US curbside) which because we are RHD is into the oncoming car, so all US headlights have to be replaced with Oz spec rhd headlights.......but we can use either sealed beams or H4 style so long as they are Oz spec.........andyd
  2. I'm hungry..........is the foot cooked?........can you put some sauce on it & post it to me?..........yum..............chicken foot.........lol.............andyd
  3. Yeh, but wasn't John Wayne's name Marion?........lol.........andyd
  4. I have had radials on my 40 Dodge since 1973, I'd forgotten what a "joy" crossplies/bias plies were/are till I bought the 41 Plymouth.......it had 6.00 x 16 Republic whitewalls, dunno how old but they looked quite new, the car was a pain in the butt, wandered all over the road, but the Coker radials made a huge difference........o/k so its not original, o/k so they don't look as "traditional"(am gunna throw up if I use that word again) as crossplies.........SO WHAT.........lol........I drive my cars, not stick 'em in a garage and forget them........but to each his own.....end of sermon......andyd
  5. How are you gunna use the VK rack?........it would be too wide wouldn't it?........what about bump steer?.........andyd
  6. Here in Australia the Registration or Number plate is just that, the Govt depts' number on a plate, some states can get various personalised plates, ie, I could have had "Mopar1" and "Dodge" but when these were introduced the price went up and became an annual fee.....the actual plate in Australia does not have the year on it, thats on the small window sticker or transfer that gets issued each year when you renew your registration fee......so here in Oz, YOM plates just don't apply........we can also get Limited registration for cars registered through a vintage/classic car club or thru a Street Rod club.......both my cars here in Oz tho' are on full, normal registration, meaning I can use them whenever I like, 365 days per year, and I just have a normal New South Wales, NSW rego plate.........regards, andyd
  7. Yeh, the cam one does nothing apart from stop the cam upsetting the flywheel.........that other one behind the flywheel tho' is a real pain, should NEVER be a steel plug, ALWAYS put a brass plug there...........or find some way to weld the hole shut.........lol...........andyd
  8. Did they run the pics?......lol.........have to get a copy.........lol..........what rack & pinion are you gunna use?.......andyd
  9. I'd put a Hemi 6 or V8 in it if you want to swap the flathead but it would look o/k done up tho'...rather than a slant 6 as I think the slant 6 would cause some steering column problems........the car looks real nice btw........regards, andyd
  10. Tony, I think you've misinterpreted the water pump pics , the truck one shows a small bump on the front of the head between the head and back plate on the water pump.....which indicates an internal bypass to me........Trevor, as for the actual water pumps, as far as I anm aware ALL mopar 6's used the same basic water pump, so the car ones are fine........I have the electronic dissy from Tom Langdom on the stock engine in my 41 Plymouth Coupe and its the best thing I have ever done, instant starts, seems to run fine.......as for your lack of oil filter, yep some mopars still don't have them.......when I got my 41 Coupe 3 yrs ago, it was an older restoration without a filter, I got the beehive filter shown in the pic and had the braided stainless lines made up.......you can use the type of external filter that early Holdens used, the metal canister that may or may not have a replaceable element and bolt it on the side of the block or firewall.......down where the dissy fits into the block there are a number of small "bolts" that screw into a length ways oil passage any of these can be used to draw oil and there is another screwed in plug near the dipstick that is the return line........anyway welcome to the best bunch of guys on the web, friendly and helpful.......regards, andyd
  11. Neil & Bob, fully agree regarding the matched set requirement, and thats what I would prefer.......this is for the 230 engine I am building to replace the P11 stocker......the way I'm going re $$$ at present I'd be better off sticking the twin carbs, intake & split exhaust manifold on the 201........lol.......knowing my luck the extra 5hp would probably make the stocker s..t itself....lol.........andyd
  12. Rob, that looks like a brass/copper tube, give it a scratch & check, if either then the tube should be fine but it still may have a heap of crud in it, I'd see if it wants to come out easy and knock a couple of welch plugs out then give the tube hole a flush with a hose, with the couple of plugs out the crud then has somewhere to get out, otherwise you're just moving the crud around but not really getting rid of it.........btw in Jim Robinsons defence re the prices, the Oz market is VERY small compared to the US, consequently he either has to have higher prices I suppose or go out of business, at least he is trying to offer a local alternative to importing the stuff yourself.........btw the US Post Office has a website, and this applies to anyone here......weigh whatever you intend to post and checkout what it will cost to post from the US to OZ.........sometimes the local guy works out much cheaper, sometimes not.........andyd
  13. Joe, NAPA is a US company, we have a few national companies here in Oz, tho' as Plymouth as a make basically disappeared about 50 yrs ago from the Oz market its an uphill battle to find anyone who can remember what mopar is........lol...........andyd
  14. Bob, thats what I'd prefer to do, but shipping to Oz is fairly high.........in no hurry at present, so will keep the eyes open........andyd
  15. Greg, thanks, from what I've seen there appears to be one with a rib in the centre of the inside of the chain that matches a groove in the gears and another chain without the rib that must use the edges of the chain to keep it aligned.......maybe?.......lol......would be good to get a definative answer..........lol........andyd
  16. Bob, nice pics.........good to see you're doing what Walter P intended with his cars..............andyd
  17. Rob, found the paperwork for the pump i got from Jim Robinson, it was August last year.....time flys when your having fun...lol.......andyd
  18. Does anyone know what the difference is between the 1934-55 Plymouth/Dodge timing chain and the 1956-59 Plymouth Dodge timing chain?.......also are the timing chains the same in both the 23" and 25' engines?.....thanks, andyd
  19. Great pics of the wrecking yard.......I used to go on my holidays in the 1970's and just drive all over inland Oz and visit yards like these.........thems were the days.......there are a couple of yards left in oz like these but they are few and far between.......damn scrappers have a lot to answer for ........lol............best wishes on the hunt, andyd
  20. Rob, thats the water pump seal gone R/S.....when i first got my 40 Dodge back in 1971 I had a go at replacing the water pump seal with a seal kit.......pain in the arse job, ended up breaking the fibre washer from memory, had to get another kit......I learnt what had to be done and kits were cheap and available back then still......as far as I know the only guy selling new water pumps in Oz is Jim Robinson in Victoria, I got one from him about 5-6mths ago and it was $169.00 plus postage, apparently the new ones have a different seal setup or something more modern than the original ones......also from memory when doing a seal kit you have to take care pressing the shaft/hub/impeller together..... Jim Ribinson does a bit of selling on ebay or just phone him direct on 03-5345 4094 or www.Dodgeparts.com.au ........regards, andyd
  21. Am pretty sure its right hand thread, I had to redo the rivets holding my P11 crank hub onto the crank pulley, had to remove the radiator and used a wooden block wedged against the pully side and the front crossmember to undo it, and then the block on the other side of the pulley to do it up..........good luck....andyd
  22. Hey, that looks like a nice, tidy Mopar, DeSotos are fine on here too, I have a 41 Plymouth Coupe and 40 Dodge Sedan, both rodded here in Australia and these guys still talk to me........lol.......seriously tho there are some extremely nice and knowledgable people on this forum, Welcome from Oz.......Andy Douglas
  23. Tony & I corresponded earlier this year about the Grand National Roadster show, he was a member of the Inland Mopars Club & we swaped some memorabilia............he was happy to talk to an aussie and compare mopar notes............a real nice guy.......this is not the way I wanted to start today.......my sympathies & condolences to his family and friends........I'll miss you mate, as we all will..........Andy Douglas
  24. This is how I like them modified........the Dodge has been like this since 1976, the Plymouth is a recent addition as a stocker....but I have fixed that problem..........lol.........andyd
  25. Pete, let me know what I owe you, many thanks......andyd
