  8. hardware store! what a rookie move on my part, when I bought the switch last Friday I asked the Napa salesman for the tap for the switch. he looked it up and said "that is an odd tap, good luck finding that" (can't believe I left it at that) and here we have had members find them for under $10. within a few minutes. Hopefully, lesson learned. Thanks
  9. 1/8" x 27 thread https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/ECHSL133/ECHSL133_0240274885 would like to find that tap or thread cleaner myself
  10. Thanks Niel, no, cooper dresses better than I do on my best days. we were how ever, able to go to the George Strait concert in Las Vegas on the 10th
  11. sounds familiar, mine was my B3B. Grandma bought it so she and I could get wood in it. drove on the back roads in central Oregon. 34 years later... I'm still not finished either.
  12. I'll do that, thanks all for the imput. Sometimes I work at the opposite end of things
  13. Did the e-mail notification associated with a PM go away? or was it just a fluke I got a pm and no e-mail? Maybe this has already been asked and I haven't found it yet
  14. Yes, I did. The only wire connected is the single wire from the negative post on the battery to the coil ( cavisco1, if I pull that wire there won't be power to give me spark) no other wires are connected to the battery or starter only two cables ( clean and untampered) from the battery to the trans top and battery to the starter. Weird huh
  15. Do you have good compression all cylinders?
  16. Jp, the wiring was modified some what for the new solenoid set up but other than that looks original. Guess I'll disconnect the wires from the back of the ignition this weekend and try it. I didn't think that was a possibility because the main power wire from the amp to the starter is disconnected.... could the generator back feed the ignition when it is turning? Or is that even possible without the battery hooked up to any part of the ignition?
  17. I have recently purchased a b4d, hasn't ran since '77. I had a 6v starter and solenoid from a car so the "stomp" starter was disabled, if you turn the key past the "on position" it would turn over. I was having problems with the starter dragging so I switched it out with a starter from a b3b. just wanting to get the truck started, I bypassed the ignition and hooked up the two battery cables (positive ground) and ran a new power wire to the coil from the negative. so far so good? the other day when I started it up to move it, I was sitting inside and decided to see if the electric wiper switch would turn.... it did, and the wipers came on? ignition off, battery positive to transmission cover, battery negative direct to starter and a new wire direct from battery to coil. What gives? originally, I was thinking short but nothing else is hooked up.
  18. Way to go Charlie! Can't wait for progress photo's.
  19. Bummer, hope the glass shop will make it right. If they didn't make it the size of the pattern, I would hope the replacement would be free. How far off was it?
  20. thanks JB! appreciate it and very informative is right! and comedy...... "Listen my boy, all Mikes muscles tell him when the head is down tight" although i had to watch it twice..... first time I kept thinking "where do I get a hat like that"
  21. shoot, going to Vegas in 15 days looks like i'll just miss it. LOL any "auto places" of interest you can recommend? I will have to check the car show out some time though. The claim they make "The Viva Las Vegas Car Show is the best car show of its type anywhere. Cars are strictly pre-63 and must be in a style from that era." I would think BTT50's would be hard to beat! Still,... looks like fun
  22. (psst Tim, I have first hand seen the tools! they do exist, they are plentiful, they are everywhere and CLEAN. I believe I also saw laser beam security alarm system in that area )
