  1. Not to hijack this thread but when I got my '40 painted I ran out of time to remove the door lock (which wasn't working) and the shop said they would remove it before painting. Of course they didn't. Any ideas on how to remove the door lock without tearing the paint that is filled in around the edges of the lock on the outside of the door (base/clear)? Phil
  2. I live in Burlington, ON which you will drive through on your way from Toronto to Niagara Falls. I am 5 minutes off the highway so am really on your route. Drop in to see my '40 and '41 Dodges. I also have a '65 Corvair which resides in my driveway in the summer. Phil
  3. Those who have been on this forum for a long time may recall that I have been working on a 1964 Tempest. As a nephew of ours once said, this is a happy/sad day. Although the Tempest had been sold in early October, the tow truck actually took it away today. Doesn't really look too bad on the back of the tow truck. It started out as a complete rust bucket but now has new floors, trunk floor and partial rear quarters. The buyer is going to make it a GTO clone. O.K. with me as long as it is saved. We owned this car since 1980 and it became a part of the family. However, I can now reunite my '41 with my '40 in our home garage and stop paying storage fees. There is still a crawl space full of parts yet to be taken away (and some in the tool shed) but these will start heading out soon. Phil
  4. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the sending unit opening on the tanksinc tank line up with opening in the trunk floor? Phil
  5. NAPA 1010 fits mine (D24 engine in D14 car). FWIW, I agree with the others that the centre of the filter is still attached to the cannister post. Phil oops! Our messages crossed paths. Glad you got it out.
  6. Ah! Got it. Sorry about that. Phil
  7. Just to update. I did finally get through on the phone on Dec. 19. He indicated that my parts are now made and to be sent from his fabricator to him on Dec. 19 or 22nd followed by shipping to me within a day or two. He was to e-mail me when the parts were on their way to me. Still no e-mail, but this is Christmas. (My mastercard was processed on Oct. 17 2014.) P.S. In my original post my question was if anyone has any recent orders with Plymouth Doctor. There were no affirmative replies but there is now a similar post from someone else on the main forum. P.S. P.S. Plymouthy Adams, please look at who is posting before replying. It was not me who said " talking on the phone and getting what you paid for as promised are two different things...... Nuff said". Phil

  9. Congratulations Bob. What a relief this must be. Phil
  10. Has anyone placed an order with Plymouthdoctor recently? I placed an order on Oct. 17 and was told that it would be ready to ship within 2 weeks. It is now 2 months and after repeated phone calls to him and many reasons given now no one answers the phone and the answering machine is full and cannot accept anymore messages. I know that things happen to delay an order but this is starting to worry me. Phil
  11. That's looking great Bob. Unbelievable how far it has come. Is that the steering wheel you bought off me on ebay? Phil
  12. O.K. I'll play. Here is mine (1941 D20). Phil
  13. The '40 taxi is at Universal. They also have Mel's Diner with a few cars around it. Phil
  14. Yeah, even when I was taking pictures people were totally oblivious to this beautiful car. I would really like to know it's history. Phil
  15. We just returned from a week of frolicking at Disney with the grandkids. I am getting way to old for all of that activity . However, while there, we also visited Universal Studios and Disney Hollywood where there were old autos sitting around the various streets. This '40 Plymouth taxi was very nice and included the toll box on the dash. Anyone here do the taxi restoration? Phil
  16. I agree with you Ed. Now at least I know what I am looking for. Here is a clearer pic. Phil
  17. Ed, what mine doesn't have is the slot/opening in the side of the knob that Don's has. Phil
  18. Thanks Don. Now that I see yours I am not sure if my '40 has the same design. Any '40 owners out there that could confirm Don's is the same or not? Here is what the back of my knob looks like. Phil
  19. Does anyone have a photo of the small spring clip that holds the headlight knob onto the shaft? I am getting very tired of the knob coming off every time I put the headlights on. Tried to make one but it doesn't hold. The original went missing many years ago. Phil
  20. Don, Can you give the details on the paint. it looks great and I have a spare heater that I just might spruce up. Thanks, Phil
  21. I have 3.73 gears in my '41 Dodge (originally 4.11). As mentioned above, the axle splines on the '54 3.73 are different than those on my '41. I ended up also doing a small bit of machining to get everything to fit in my housing (can't remember the details). Runs great. Phil
  22. My experiences: 1. 1941 Dodge. End of May 2014, new airtex pump, under 200 miles. Pin walked out, tow home. Lever did not fall into oil pan. 2. Several years ago, same car, airtex pump, just under 800 miles. Pin walked out, lever dropped into oil pan. No damage to engine. Had spare pump available. I am planning on getting the pin suggested by Don above. Phil
  23. For installing the temperature sending unit to the head??? Phil
  24. Thanks very much for that link Don. I have been looking for this type of pin ever since my 'new' pump had the pin walk out at the end of May. This is the second time this has happened to me (both times with my '41 Dodge). Much appreciated. Phil
