  1. Mine was intact when I was working on this area of the car but it was almost worn in two. I took it to NAPA that had a shadow board their that matched up common springs. I guess I should have posted my info or made note but I didn't. Anyway hope this helps.
  2. I knew their were more Plymouths in east TN. Welcome to the forum.
  3. Yep, I agree. I see repro parts with substandard plating. I've seen stuff people have paid good money to have done be disappointing. I don't think you can buy the quality plating of the 60's back anymore.
  4. I believe pilots from ww2 hung dice in their cockpit for good luck is where this orginated.
  5. Must have been trying to loosen it since you wrenched left.
  6. To be so rough to start with that car turned out really nice. I wonder where they sourced the chrome?
  7. Sounds like an interesting project. I am a big fan of the Jeep straight 6 in all forms especially the 4.0 (242). I had one in an 88 Cherokee that had 365K on the clock and still felt really strong when I sold it. Sounds like a good plan keep us updated on the progress.
  8. Might check the vintage tool section on ebay, I see lots of goodies there.
  9. Their was a junkyard just a few miles from where I live now. An old man had owned it for as long as I remember. He always had the old stuff 30's to 60's a few early 70's. He always had the hard to find stuff, unusual and odd models. Back in about '71 the Chevy dealer sold out, changed hands, whatever. I remember people telling me he bought out the complete parts dept. I don't think this was the only time he did this or brand. At that time I didn't understand the value of NOS parts or genuine OEM. I loved to walk through his yard and just look at all the possible projects and possibilities. I never bought much from him because he was considerably higher than the other yards. He was a one stop shop though, he usually had what you might be looking for. He passed away about 10yrs ago. I remember hearing through the grapevine that his family was selling everything cheap and had brought a mobile crusher in. I hurried up there, I knew he had a 47 Plymouth 5 man coupe there and wanted to see about it. I got there and was really heart broken to see all the crushed cars stacked up. So many good parts mashed and ruined. I saw the 47 and was in time to save it. It was much rougher than I had remembered ( it's always this way, right?). I bought the car for $200 bucks, had $50 in a tow bill to get it home. This car had the rare factory turn signal indicator on the dash. I used some parts to help my 46 coupe project, sold and saved all I could. I hate seeing good parts and cars go to waste. I also hate seeing all the good parts sources disappear. I guess that's life though. I remember seeing a 59 Lincoln there, it appeared as if it was driven in. Me and a friend talked about what an expensive car it was when new and the miles of chrome on it. Only one I guess I've ever seen.
  10. Thanks for sharing. My dad was in the 7th infantry and my uncle was involved In the D-day landing at Omaha beech. I wished more people understood the meaning and importance of these memorials.
  11. Thank you, good luck with your new venture!
  12. Will you being other models, possibly other brands? Asking for a friend...?
  13. I love the airflow, never seen a done car in person, just parts cars and projects. This would be a great car for Chrysler to bring back IF they would get it right. I will say they do a far better job than the others. The exception, I know Jeep is connected to Chrysler. The "Renegade", I'm into old Jeep CJ's and for them to take a name that really meant something and apply it to a minivan really got me.
  14. My favorite is a 4000 lb hydraulic table that doubles as a motorcycle lift. It was an industrial lift table of some kind from my former employer. I added a hinged 6" wide piece channel that can be removed if I wanted. I love how I can adjust the height from something I can work with using an old chair or hit the foot pedal and raise it if I want to stand and work.
  15. Glad she's ok. I've always felt you learn more from mistakes than not making one at all . Sometimes mistakes like this you don't get a second chance on. I worry about this scenario often. My kids are 25, 21 and 13, You preach and preach and hope they hear it.
  16. What kinda torque does a 413 put out?
  17. I went to my son's house today, didn't have any luck finding that carboard tube. I'm sure it will turn up just really puzzling.
  18. Flathead 6, 413 truck engine, wow! That would be a score!
  19. I looked through my contacts, I was sure I had his email address there but cant find it. I know I have that tube somewhere. Its pretty important to me as it has a nice pair of stainless rocker trim for my car. It kinda bothers me that its not where I thought it was but I have been working on other projects and I'm sure its just misplaced.
  20. Having trouble finding the info you need. I had a long cardboard tube Mr. McConnell had sent me some trim in. I can't seem to find it. My car has been moved to my sons garage, it may be over there. I 'll see if I can get over there today and look.
  21. I think his old address may be on a package he sent me but its back in Tennessee and I'm on vacation in Savannah GA. Give me a couple days and I can send it.
  22. Last parts I bought from him several months back he was about to move from PA to AZ I think.
  23. You would be surprised what people might want or need. I have a parts car in the field behind my house that has been a very valuable source of information for me and others when it come to reassembly and reference. If you sell the bumpers you should make sure they wind up back on a Plymouth. That's just me.
  24. Keith that's a great pic of Abby on the bench. I laughed when I saw her in the Gap shirt. The reason I laughed we also have a boxer, ours was a rescue dog from the pound. When we first got her she had a very skittish nature, easily startled and has some weird ways about her. We've had her about a year and a half, it's gotten better but it's still noticeable. Anyway this past winter we kept her and our heeler in the laundry room when it was cold out. The heeler has a thick coat but the boxer not so much. My wife bought the boxer a sweater. When she put that sweater on that dog and set it outside I darn near peed my pants laughing. Ginger ( the dogs name, not my wife ) walked like she was really afraid to move, she stepped with her legs stiff and very far apart. She saw me laughing and looked so humiliated and disgusted. My wife feels bad goes and takes the sweater off Ginger. I got it on video but lost it when my last phone died. This was an Americas Funniest videos winner hands down!
