  1. I would like to replace the rear end in my 1948 dodge truck. The rear end ratio in the truck is in the high fours around 4.78. I would like something around 3.55. I would like to get a good highway gear and still be able to use it as a truck. Does anyone have any thoughts or rear ends for sale? The rear end in the truck looks like the 8 3/4 style. I thought the 8 3/4 did not come out until around 1955.
  2. So what do you want for the motor and transmssion? I have a 1948 dodge B1B truck that needs another motor. If I cannot find a good replacement I will have to go with a V8.
  3. I found the book on amazon. However when it came to replacing in the truck it said it used one from a Chrysler. Great book just not the answer I was looking for. Will the rear end from a 53 Plymouth?
  4. Has anyone replaced the rearend and motor in a 1949 Dodge B1B truck? I would like to keep the frame. The rearend is 4.78. Will a plymouth car fit the truck? Plymouths are A models so I am not sure. I have all the measurements if someone needs them to compare The motor would be a V8 and manual transmission. I would like to keep it all looking org.
  5. I found the same numbers on my 1949 B1B rearend . The rearend looks like a 8 3/4, the pumpkin is in the front. The only other rear end I have found would be a Ford. My truck is geared very low. I would like to upgrade it to be able to cruise at 65 to 70. I would like to un-bolt and bolt a different rearend in. Any suggestions.
