  1. Does anyone have any tricks to separating the handle from the molding behind it? I am trying to get them apart to get them refinished. Thanks
  2. Just a quick update, i found them at Andy Berbaum auto parts for $8 each. Thanks dpollo!
  3. What type's of aftermarket radiators is everyone running? i found a replacement aluminum factory one but I can't use it because the lower hose is on the wrong side for my big block I am putting in. Just looking for ideas on what people have used or what else will fit in there. I'm not quite at the stage of needing it yet, but trying to get a feel for what i will be looking for. Thank you
  4. Does anyone know where I can get just the nuts for the upper and lower control arm outer pivots? There are used to hold the camber/caster bolts on the control arms. Trying to find just the nuts.
  5. How much and how long did it take for Fatman to bend and machine your steering rods?
  6. I'm not too concerned. Most of that info is 7 years old. I'm prepared to do what I have to to make them work. I already have the rack and pinion swap done as well as the disc brake conversion. We'll see how it goes, all part of hot rodding
  7. You have an Instagram or Facebook to follow your build? I'm currently in the same boat with my 47, just installed bags and doing the fatman uprights. Would Def love to see more!
  8. What is a good suggestion for a radiator for the 47 that will work well for 400+ hp bb mopar? Not alot of room to work with. Thanks in advance
  9. Thanks guys, I have a lead on a big block oil pan so hopefully that pans out (no pun intended ) As for the rear, I understand the leaf springs are more than capable, But I am looking to add airride, and it won't work with the leaf springs. Thank you for your input
  10. Anyone have any pics of how they did their motor mounts? Had a set made up but i am scrapping them due to some miscalculations :/ It's a big block wedge in a 47 plymouth. I have a couple ideas, but just looking for some pics and experience. Thanks!
  11. Hello, Been awhile since I posted. Starting to get back into my 47 plymouth project and had a couple questions. Doing the cavalier R/P install, what oil pans have people used to ensure clearance for a BB mopar (413)? I have a front and center sump available, but both look like they won't work with the R/P. For the rear, I am looking to get rid of the leaf springs and install a 4 link with either coilovers or airride. What kits are people using? The rear end is a 323 sure grip out of a 69 road runner. Any info or experience people have would be fantastic. Thank you in advance.
  12. So I thought I had a set from someone local and they turned out to be wrong. I ordered the set from Posie's for $425 with shipping and damn they are nice. Now time to set the sure grip rear in there and move on to the next step. Lot's to do before spring time crusin'. Thanks everyone for your help!
  13. Thanks for the input guys. Another memeber has a set from a 49', these should work correct?
  14. Ok, so I started to swap my rear end out and found that one of my springs has several broken leafs. Does anyone know if there is another vehicle that is similar to these that I can make the swap? Kanter auto wants over $500 for the pair and that is just way over my price range. There will be just about nothing left stock in the car so I don't care what they come from, just as long as they are close and I can make them work. Help me please.
  15. Sueussbyr, what year did the rack come out of? The celebrity was discontinued in 1990 and when I look up pics of a cavalier R/P it looks different. I want to do the same on my 47 but want to make sure I get the correct parts. Thanks
  16. Now just working on the motor/tranny mounts. Also found a way around the oil filter squeeze problem with a remote filter kit..
  17. I just moved the steering box up 1.5" and it clears the motor mount and doesn't block the exhaust or starter. Will this ultimately hurt the steering function and possibly be dangerous? I haven't mounted it yet, but seems to turn good when the car is parked and the box clamped to where I want to install it. Has anyone done this?
  18. Been off the net for awhile and stumbled upon my original post. Let me first give you my backround and then what I have accomplished so far. First off, my screen name is what I want to be, I have had a few classics in the past but recently picked up my dream car (A COUPE FROM THE 40'S). Everything I have learned has been by doing it my self. I have rebuilt motors, done body work, replaced convertible tops and everything in between, but never anything strictly custom like this. I am a young 34yo and mostly worked on and owned cars from the 60's (generally GM). It is pretty discouraging the way some have posted. I am not a dummy, but was looking for a general place to start. Since my original post, I have replaced all staock bushings and pins. Installed the disc brake conversion from olddaddy and picked up the 413. The 413 is not a wedge motor as described to me but I bought it anyways with the 727 trans for $500. I am not looking to build the car to sell it. I am looking to build something fun for me and my 8 yo son to work on together. So now I have the motor and tranny sitting on the lift in the car and have clearnace issues with the steering box. Should I A)do a R/P swap or B)is there a smaller gear box and column I can get out of a scrap yard that will work with some fab work? Which is easier and cheaper? I am on a small budget (one that trickles in slowly). I have about $1000 saved right now for the project with more to come in the future. I apologize for the lack of response. I do wish I had money and a shop like Chip Foose though.
  19. I will obviously need to fabrictae mounts, I just wasn't sure about the 413. I can't find any on the internet with that motor. A picture of one would be nice to find.
  20. No farming out, most work done by myself. Should I be farming it out?
  21. So I have a 47 special deluxe and a chance to pick up a 413 max wedge and torqueflight 727 trans for my plymouth. Question is, will it fit? Any help would be great!
