  1. Many thanks to all who responded. I was wondering if I could use a new process a 555 5 speed trans behind the 4 speed trans bell housing. The new process has a 5 1/16 input shaft bearing retainer. Now I know that the 4 speed bellhouseing is 4 3/4. Just wanted to keep the 38 all MOPAR. Thanks Mike
  2. Does anyone know the size of the hole in the bell housing for a 4 speed transmission? I guess it's called the clutch housing bore. Thanks xbedbugger.
  3. Looks to be a mounting for old time road flares. Mike
  4. Grey Beard Is this gear 3 1/2 inches long, casting # 652848. Is it for sale?
  5. Anyone have a four speed trans laying around that they can pull the speedometer drive gear out and tell me how many teeth on it. The number is stamped on the side, should say something like 652848 17T.
  6. Great looking engine. What kind of water pump is that?
  7. Just filled the wife's car. $151.9 a gallon, Chandler Az. Still can cruise in AZ. Mike:
  8. I can't seem to get pic's loaded up. Send me your email address and I'll get them to you. I forgot to mention you might have to grind some clearence on the back of the distributer to clear the hold down clamp. Mike (xbedbugger@qwest.net):
  9. This is how I did it. disassembled the electronic dist. used a long bolt thru the body, chucked in in drill press, put rubber band around cap hold down clamps, set drill press on slowest speed, filed down body part that goes into block. You don't have to remove much metal, reassemble the dist using the shaft from the points dist, (same size shaft) . Don't use the 0 ring gasket on the electronic dist as it wont let the housing go in all the way. I used a 0 ring gasket at the top of the engine block, didn't leak. The dist hold down adjustment is from the points dist. Mount the control module and wire it up. Got my wireing instructions off the internet. I'll post pics soon. Mike
  10. 1937 Dodge Thanks for the info. I'll get those plugs and check for clearance. I'm running a slant 6 distrubitor with electronic ignition,so I guess the plugs gapped at 40 will be ok. xbedbugger Mike
  11. Elmer What spark plugs do you use in the Edmunds head. I just put mine on my 265 and looking for correct plugs, any help. Mike (xbedbugger) in AZ.
  12. I just put my Edmunds aluminum head on my 265. Now what plugs do I use? Looks to be about 9/16 of an inch of threads in the head and 3/8 of an inch clearence to the block deck. Mike (xbedbugger)
  13. My transmission looks like the one pictured except for the yoke for the drive shaft. I'll start looking for a 39 to ? dodge floor shift, don't know of one do you? Thanks for your help. Mike
  14. Are there any transmissions that are syncronized 2nd and 3rd gears that will fit my 1938 dodge pickup? Floor shift drop in's. Thanks in advance Mike:
