  1. Glad you took a day off Tim, about time.!!
  2. I hadn't been on here for a long while, thought I'd check out the classifieds but it looks like nothing is for sale by individuals on the forum. What happened to the for sale section with cars and parts? Thanks. Richie
  3. Tim, you going to buy the one horse wagon ?? It would look good in the middle of all your beautiful trees where we parked for your picnic. !! I think you ought to buy it !! I've had no luck on the carb kits, but really haven't spent much time as of late looking. Any more pics of the coupe ?? Richie.
  4. That's an amazing site Niel, thanks. Richie.
  5. Hey Tim, that's why I'd take the Hudson over the Avanti. I did some more research and cannot find anything new on the carb kits. Richie.
  6. Ed, I would take the Hudson conv. over any Avanti. Richie.
  7. Hey Hud, good to hear from you. We almost went to PF this year but didn't make it. I hope to make it next year in the 53. Say hey to Mark for me and congrats. Neither one of you post much anymore on the Hudson forum it seems. Always good to hear from you guys. Richie.
  8. Hey Don, thanks for the heads up. Good to hear from you again. I haven't seen Mark since the Hudson meet a few years ago in TN, met his dad there also. Hey Ed, I'm jealous, I'd have to mortgage the house and sell all my Hudsons to buy a convertible as nice as your neighbors. Guess I'll just keep driving my iron and be happy. I still love my 50 Plymouth and drive it every day, rain or shine. Hudsons are great cars too and I enjoy them as well. We added a 53 Hornet that you haven't see Don, Tim has seen it, got it last Feb. Boy did I take a beating on that one. Got about all the problems taken care of except the engine, low compression in two cylinders so it looks like a valve job in the near future. Y'all take care. Richie.
  9. I got 48 out of 48, but guessed on the Willys, I guess it helps to be an antique like myself !
  10. Happy Veterans Day to all Vets, and thanks Don for reminding us of this very special day. Richie.
  11. The finished paint job. Sorry about messing up the post, was going to put all pics in the same post but found out only 5 pics at a time. Richie.
  12. It is very expensive to have a car painted, so I took several months and prepared my Hudson and then painted it. It was not an easy job and I would think very hard before I painted a car again. I scraped all the paint off with a razor blade and treated the surface rust on the roof a rust converter and then primed with epoxy primer and then again with regular primer. The car is a 20 footer with a few mistakes in it but I drive it, not show it so I'm fine with what it turned out to be. The total cost was around $400 for supplies, and countless hours of labor. It was a fun experience and actually I enjoyed doing it even though it was a tuff job. I will try and post some pics below. Richie
  13. Looks great Tim, now don't spend all your spare time in that room instead of the shop !!
  14. Jim, I totally agree with you. I have installed three overdrive trannies from George, two in P15's and now one in my P20. The only problem I ever had was a bad lockout switch on the first one and I called George about it and he mailed one out the next day no charge. I'm very happy with George and his service. I love the overdrives, I'll go anywhere I want without worrying. Richie.
  15. Hey Bob, good to talk to you. If we happen to head out that way I will be sure to call you. Talk to you later. Richie.
  16. You are funny Don, the Hudson may go some day but Honey is a keeper !!
  17. That sounds good Don, I will be doing some highway driving in the next few days making sure everything I did was right. I can't sell the 50 Hudson as Honey likes riding in it. Talk to you later, Richie.
  18. Greg, the Plymouth with overdrive is a great car and I like it better than the others for my own reasons. I drive the Plymouth every day, rain or shine. I cannot say the Plymouth is a better road car than the Hudson. Actually the 50 Hudson is an awsome road car and more comfortable than the others. I just like the Plymouth, it fits me just right. Richie.
  19. Hey guys, I haven't been on here much lately but I have a little update on my P 20. Several months ago I bought an overdrive tranny from Lou Earle that he had for years and decided to install it yesterday. I finished it up this morning after doing some other maintenance, grease, tailpipe hanger, etc. I was really surprised when I left my subdivision because the car was moving through 1st and 2nd gears with not a sound from the tranny. It has no gear whine at all. The P 15 that I used to have that I put overdrive in as well, was very good, but not as quiet as this one. I put 90 wt. oil in it for now but after 500 miles or so I will change to a synthetic, same as what the P 15 had. I took my wife for a ride in it when she got home from work and the first thing she said after I put it in OD was "honey we can go on trips with this now, right". My reply was, anywhere you want !! We plan on going to Toronto next September with it to visit some friends. This car drives as good as it did back in 1950 in my estimation, maybe better now with overdrive. I will have to call George Ashe and tell him I'm back with Plymouths now. The Hudsons just sit in the garage. Sorry for the long post, but I'm too exicted not to share. Maybe I'll surprise ole Don and just show up at his door for coffee one day.
  20. Don, you have an excellent memory. You are correct, the charging system needs to be working properly. That was the only issue I had with the overdrive trans once it was installed and the bugs worked out of it. I drove the car for several years without any problems. The guy that owns it now loves it and has had no problems. I followed George Asche's directions with the exception of the kickdown switch, which I removed. I used 15-40 synthetic oil in it per George. I never had a problem with either mechanical or electrical once the installation was complete. The reason I removed the kickdown switch was my brother Bob and I were racing each other down in FL. and he went into 2nd overdrive and put the pedal to the metal and it kicked down. I'm not sure what rpm he hit be I wasn't taking any chances with mine. I drove my car a lot harder than my brother drove his I promise you !! I just bought another overdrive trans that I will put in my P20 within the next week or so. The terminals do have to be clean and tight. I wouldn't want to drive the interstates without overdrive, its like a different car when you can cruise at 70 plus all day. My first long trip with the OD was over 2,000 miles in a week, and 804 miles the first day, so you can really drive at 70 plus all day. Richie.
  21. You are a lot braver than me Tim. I give you a lot of credit !! Richie.
  22. Jim, Don and I had a nice visit with George. He is a nice guy and very knowledgeable about Mopars. If your ride with him was anything like Don and mine you were in for a treat. If I remember correctly he ran it up to about 50 mph in first gear overdrive, this is on wet roads. I don't remember what the top speed was as I was watching the road very closely. George drives like a 16 year old kid, and drives like he stole it. We picked up 3 overdrive trans and I wired mine the way George wired his. I need to get back up there and visit with him again.
