  1. Well I removed the screws in the passenger side and reset it. I removed the plate on the drivers side and found an additional seal for the axle. Its not very thick, but I removed the duplicate one anyway. After double checking the brake shoe settings, cleaning the shoes and the drums with spray brake cleaner and putting it all back together the problem seems to have gone away. Time will tell. Thanks for your advice.
  2. Its not the shoes rubbing on the drum. Its the Drum rubbing against the back plate (the plate that holds the shoes on). It appears to be too close together. Was wondering if the washer on the outside goes on 1st then the drum, then the nut??? Need a good diagram I guess.
  3. It seems like an easy thing... just put the rear brake drum on and there you go. But NO. After I do, I get a loud noise when I back up. My question is how far off should the drum set from the back plate? I think its rubbing on the plate. There is no instructions on how to re-assemble them, plenty on how to take em off. I'm no expert. kinda learning as I go. Any advise is greatly appreciated.
  4. As usual you guys have the best information. Thanks.
  5. I have a dumb question. My 47 dodge (6 volt) has what appears to be a resistor attached to the generator. I had some work done and the one wire coming out of it was disconnected. The resistor is fastened directly into the generator with one screw, it has one wire coming out of it. My question is what does it do? Which terminal should it be connected to? And do I need it? Thanks I always get the best advice from here. Gary
  6. My 47 Coupe is all original. It has a push button switch on the front inside of the passenger door and a slide switch on the wall behind the driver's door. I am not sure where the wires run, since I have not taken any of the panels off. The switch by the driver's side runs the dome light above the rear window. Currently I have not been able to get the passenger side to light anything. I have to check to see if it makes a difference as to what position the driver's side switch is set to. I think it is a 3 position switch, but haven't played with it much. I am currently working on the brakes and getting my floor holes welded shut. I will let you know, when I get a chance to play with them.
  7. Ok, I am no expert at these old cars. This may seem dumb, but I have not been able to find any instructions on the web as to the best method to solder it. What solder should I use? Do I use a prop. torch or a soldering iron? Any suggestions are appreciated. Newbie.
  8. Ok, here's my next issue.. After flushing my radiator in my 47 dodge, I have noticed a small leak in the radiator in the area above the fins. I looks like it has been soldered there before. Any suggestions? Can I re-solder it? Plumbing type solder? Someone recommended removing the radiator and having it tested. It is only one small leak, removing it seems extreme to me.
  9. This weekend I attempted to remove the reflectors. For those who might be interested I am including pictures of the process. I tried drilling, but it was slow and my bit was dull, so I tried another way. I used a 1/4" sheetmetal screw and my trusty Craftsman powered screwdriver. (not drill). I let it spin into the metal just long enough for it to grab. Then I tightened it just a little more. Next I took a pair of small vise grips. I had to wedge them against the side of the shell to start the plug moving, but then it popped right out. There is a small amount of a gap between the reflector and the back of the plug, so if you don't screw in the screw too far, it will not damage the reflector. Both reflectors came out fine. Now I am off to get them re-chromed. Thanks again for the advice. This forum is great. Gary
  10. Yes they say coupe on both, and show LH and RH and part numbers. The bottoms are curved and have what appears to be a drain hole in the center of the bottom. Thanks for the advice I will try it this weekend. Gary
  11. I have a 1947 dodge businessman's coupe. Does anyone know how I should remove the small round reflector from my pot metal tail lights? The chrome has small bumps on it, so I assume they will have to remove the chrome and start anew. The reflective disc appears to be soldiered on from the reverse side. I don't think they can re-chrome it with the reflectors in the housing. I am not an expert on these, so any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Gary

  13. Just a quick question.. I loved the 2007 Calendar you have on the download site. Do you plan on putting a 2008 version out there?
  14. Ceberus has already bought Chrysler... Daimler has washed it hands of the company. Official day one activities are scheduled for Aug 15th announcing "The New Chrysler". The deal finalizes end of Sept. This warranty is a bold move trying to give the "New" company a good start. Looks like Chrysler will be around a while, so we should all be happy its back in US control.
  15. Any one know where I can find a license plate light lens for a 47 dodge coupe? The one for my dodge must have gotten lost or broken.
