  1. When I was rebuilding it I did check to make sure that the step up circuit moved freely. I suspect its probably the accelerator pump. Car ran perfectly at low speeds before the swap so I wouldn't think its anything but carb related. I didn't change anything else. I didn't even change the under carb gasket. And I did check that port in the bottom and it was clear.
  2. Ok a little follow-up. Bought a parts car and rebuilt the carb off it. High speed surging seems to be solved now(only did a mile or so length on the freeway) but now I've got a low speed issue. Car wants to stall when pulling away from a stop. Jeez I can't win. Ideas?
  3. The coil in my truck and the other firewall mounted ones have an early security attempt with the ignition directly attached to the coil. I suppose if it came to that I could do the coil and then put it a more conventional ignition too. I wouldn't want that big armored thing flopping around under there. BTW no solenoids on the old trucks. You push a foot pedal that pushes right on the starter itself.
  4. Tim it is Nov in MN after all. I did drive the coupe all weekend. Trying to see if my new rebuilt carb is going to work out. We had highs in the 50s this weekend. I raked many many leaves both days. ICK If it doesn't warm up soon the dash will probably end up waiting until spring. I can't install it until then anyways but I was hoping to spend some winter down time shining the chrome and installing that stuff on the dash.
  5. Norm mentioned in Robin's post to check his coil for a hard starting condition. I didn't want to sidetrack Robins thread with my question. How often to coils really go out? Both my old car and truck have ancient ones. The truck has a coil through the firewall and they are rather costly. I just left the one that was in there. My car did get a different one only because I dropped the original one and broke one of the wire terminals. However that one too is another used one from some other mopar. Are coil problems few and far between or do I have timebombs on my hands......
  6. It will depend on how the weather turns. Its high in the 30s today-too cold to paint. Only heat in the garage is a wood burner so no using that when painting! I only painted it saturday so it may be a while before those things are ready to be sanded.
  7. Tim I mixed the paint 8:1 with the hardner. Then I added some reducer and sprayed it. I think what happened is when I added extra reducer in the paint gun I didn't spray it long enough for it to come out the tip. So I added more reducer. Luckily most of the runs are in less visible places. There are a ton on the curve below the instruments some that curve down to the flat area where the glove box latch goes and then 1 way over on the right. The top seems pretty good. Hopefully I can sand and buff this back because I don't think I will have another opportunity to paint until spring.
  8. If you are uploading them to photobucket they should be permanent. Instead of uploading from your PC you are uploading from ebays basically. I upload directly from my camera sometimes. Those are all still in the bucket
  9. Just yesterday dad and I went to try and help a neighbor start his 55 new yorker 4dr. They are neat looking cars.
  10. I listen quite often but none of my old cars have a functional radio I do 108 but not KLBB. Ya I've got one cruise left-putting the plymouth in storage for the winter
  11. Well here's what it looks like so far. Probably looks better in the picture then in real life since the runs are less noticeable
  12. As you can tell I grew up with the oldies too! Ever listen to the true oldies channel? Its 740 AM for us or listen online at www.trueoldieschannel.com Check it out
  13. You put it over the wire before you solder the ends. Then move it back up to cover the joint and heat it. Its a plastic that will shrink about 50% in size and then makes a nice cover for your work. Check out harbor freight for it if you have one.
  14. It may have been a deluxe that someone ordered a radio for. It doesn't have that plastic plymouth name plate and the chrome piece above the radio grill.
  15. Well I painted my dash. Used rustoleuam gloss sand with some hardner in it. First it was a little too thick so I thinned it more. Ended up with a few runs then. I know it has to be left until completely dry but is it possible to sand these out? Some will be covered by the steering column bracket but there are some next to it that wont and then one down the curved piece next to the glove box.
  16. until butter fingers irvan gunned himself down

  21. Looks interesting but seems overpriced at $18x4.
  22. Can't say I "remember" it but I know the song
  23. wow the HAMB forum gets mentioned in the cast. Looks like something I'd watch
  24. Bob the standard ratio for a truck was 4.11 same as a p15 I believe. Now the trucks did have 2 higher ones. The 4.3 and I think a 4.5 or something like that. Also a 3.73 is listed. Interestingly the 3.90 that I put in my truck isn't listed as an option. OOPS. Bob might be time to try and clean off that flat spot on the top of the diff housing.
  25. Ok if those rotors fit right up against the back of the spindle where/how do you attach the caliper?
