  1. So it looks like the challenge is finding the right combination of flywheel, starter, and bellhousing so that the starter and ring gear mesh. Am I understanding properly that the flange on the end of the Dodge (230) crankshaft is thicker/longer than on the 201-218 engine? Is this the 0.185 " mentioned above? This would move the flywheel back and not allow the gear on the starter drive to engage the ring gear properly?
  2. I have bellhousing, trans, and clutch, but no starter or flywheel.
  3. Hey guys, I have a P-15 coupe with no motor. A friend will give me one out of '55 Dodge, but there is no flywheel or clutch, etc. The engine has 8 bolt pattern on the crank. So I am need of a flywheel. Can someone point me in the direction of what year Dodge or Plymouth flywheel will work (?). Thanks in advance for your help.
  4. I know the compression ratio, what should the compression be, in pounds? Thanks for your help.
  5. I have a Dodge 230 (bored .060") in my '39 Ply Business coupe - Fenton head, Edmunds intake, Fenton headers/duals, stock dizzy, Edgy cam (mild grind), with 2 B&B Carter carbs. I was told by Tom Langdon that this is too carburetion but the motor runs great.
  6. Ed, thanks for the info. I think the engine in my '39 will be happier going down the highway running at a few hundred less revs.
  7. Is the rear end in my '39 P7 the same as my '46 P15? I changed the third member of my '46 to one with 3.73 gears. This + 31" dia tires improved driveability on highways. I want to do the same on my '39. So will the later third member fit my '39? I appreciate any help on this.
  8. I sent a e-mail to Eric with pic of the bezel in question and he directed me to the correct tool. Thanks all for your help.
  9. It looks like Eric's tools only fit Dodge trucks. The bezel (nut) on my '39 Plymouth has a different configuration. I scoured e-pay and the only removal tools there are for later model MOPARs.....
  10. Desotodav, thanks for posting the link. My problem is not the knob, i have that off. My question is about getting the switch out. I'm used to seeing switches with nuts on a threaded shaft or a button on the switch that releases the shaft. This switch has a bezel on the shaft. How do i get the bezel loose? Is there a tool i need to remove the bezel on the shaft?
  11. Desoto, thanks for the link, I have the knob off but can't figure out how to get the switch out. There is some kind of bezel on the shaft. It looks like this bezel holds the switch in place. I'm thinking that there is a special tool that's needed to loosen/get the bezel off. The switches that I've seen on other cars have a nut screwed on to the shaft or a release button located on the switch to release the shaft.
  12. The headlight switch on my P7 coupe has gone bad. There's a bezel that apparently holds the shaft of the switch in place. How I remove the bezel to get the switch out? I want to replace it with an original switch. Thanks in advance for your help.
