  1. Been meaning to give this video posting a try. Went over and tinkered with the carb tonight and took a short video, seems to be running a little better, but still not happy with the strutter I'm hearing. You can hear it best as I walk around the back of the car. PS, throttle was pulled out slightly as she was still warming up.
  2. Hi Rodney, that's my Ruby with the skirts! Just now getting time to upload a few more of the gang and my travels from Bolton, MA to Roscoe, NY. It was a great trip. Here's a few more shots.... Narration: Road side defunct gas station in Red Hook, NY. Crossing the Hudson on the Kingston Bridge. Couple of old farts parked at the Linvingston Manor Covered Bridge. Following a Dodge up 87 that must've come from that meet Ron was going to. Ruby parked in her carraige house, colling down after the trip. (she's spoiled)
  3. It's not fuzzy but it's definitely a die. ("c" intentionally omitted) there's also a beer bottle opener and a multi-tip sears freebie screwdriver on their with the two keys I got with the car. My theory; It's always a roll of the die that it will start, and if it doesn't, well I have the tool to fiddle with the carb, and if it still doesn't start, well then it's time to crack a beer and call for help.
  4. Wow, after seeing these pictures, I second the suggestion for next years unofficial meet-up. Looked like a great event. One more addition to the notes; we need to fire our travel agent for not knowing this ahead of time.
  5. Reminds me of some Finnish forests I've driven through. By the way, I agree with Niel, great looking dash.
  6. With one revision to be noted; Pretty woman to be acknowledged for taking photographs, and just a little BS and not running away. I second the motion.
  7. Highways are not my favorite, and I tend to avoid them, but if i want to get anywhere fast (or faster than 40mph), i've got to drive the Interstates. My car has no OD, so 65 is pushing it. I take it easy and do 60(ish) and count the smiles and thumbs up as everyone passes me. Chet and I can attest that our fingers where crossed every time we started our cars on this trip. His seemed to be running rich, and mine..., well I haven't quite figured it out. But I know it doesn't like cold mornings and it also doesn't like to be restarted after she's reached temp. I'll leave that for my winter musings, for now I'm happy to be logging miles until the snow flies. I'm envious of Joel's dash, wish mine had that new car shine! All the best, mark
  8. Made it home about a half hour ago. Parked the car, checked her vitals, wrote down a few facts then tossed my stuff in the truck and drove the last mile home. All in all, she performed well, (except for an annoying hot start problem), drove 454.5 miles round trip. Hotel: $187.00 / gas: $124.43 / food(beer): $38.00. Got a few photos to share as well, will post those later.
  9. Great trip so far. Just left Kingston, headed up 87 to catch the mass turnpike. Doing 65 and all systems are go! Just counting the thumbs up as folks pass me. What a beautiful day for a drive!
  10. ... This is a much better group than the occupy wall street group. Tents and bullhorns just aren't my style.
  11. Great meeting you too Ron. Life is all about the side trips and the road less traveled. Ruby serves as a great catalyst for me in that capacity. So many fine members on this site, and at least a half dozen new friends met over this weekend. Glad you reached out to say hello, it saved me from a very boring evening. Was awesome to visit your cars and see some true time capsules awaiting rebirth. Dont wait too long to get going, lifes short, and driving these old gals is a blast.
  12. Good to hear from you chet! Just hung up with Greg, sounds like we'll all be turning heads very early tomorrow morning.
  13. Been a great ride so far. Left Bolton, MA at 1:10p and arrived Rhinebeck, NY at 4:40p. Traveled 495 south to 90 west to Lee, MA. Left the highway there and did route 7 southwest to Kingston, NY and crossed the Hudson river. Parked in what appears to be a safe (albeit pricey) Holiday Inn for the night. Tomorrow it up early to meet up with Bob in Neversink, (maybe a quick covered bridge photo op?) then on from there to Roscoe to meet Greg and Chet. Now out to grab a pizza for supper.
  14. Can't convince the bride to join me so I'm going it alone. Looks like 245 miles. Gonna point the car towards Great Barrington on the Mass Pike, then from there over back roads to Rhinebeck. Seems to be Marriot Courtyard in that area. Next AM I'll head to Roscoe via Bob Drowns house. Wish me luck!
  15. Someone tell me where that is.. I'm tempted.
  16. But it works slightly different on the iPad and that's all I travel with for work. The app I use to search parts for the p15 series is quite handy to single out items, but not friendly for forwarding url's, and since there was very little time left, I figured any info was better than nothing. Cheers, Mark
  17. Glad to see you behind the wheel Chet! I'm envious that your driving season is longer than ours up here in New England. Another couple weeks and I'll be contemplating putting my car away for the winter before the snow flies. Greg, I like the idea of an east coast p15-d24 meet-up. Seeing as you came up with the idea, why don't you start a thread to poll interest in locations and participation?
  18. Just found these on eBay, unfortunately not much time left in the auction. NOS Window rain guards for a two door sedan going cheap... Someone out there should grab these. I paid double for my sedan and they where used... Good luck 1941-46-47-48 MOPAR CHRYSLER DODGE DESOTO PLYMOUTH WINDOW VENTS COVERS Search eBay item number: 280753264577
  19. Remember gents, it's tv... If I want reality I go picking in the first person.
  20. That episode was pretty good. The guy inherited his dads house and that Plymouth was jambed into the basement with a couple other cars, not to mention the stuff on the lot. If I recall they where afraid to go near the property due the owners postings outside; "will shoot on sight".
  21. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcfkv5_american-pickers-on-history-frank-s_shortfilms I think he over paid...
